Jadee Eccleston

(CNS): Police are appealing for help in finding 15-year-old Jadee Eccleston, who was reported missing just after 9:30am Friday after she apparently left school and the staff was unable to locate her. Police were later informed that the girl had gone home briefly around noon, but had left her residence on Capt. Joe and Osbourne Road in West Bay shortly afterwards. Jadee is of fair complexion and was last seen with her hair in one ponytail. She was wearing dark blue uniform pants, white John Gray High School uniform shirt and a black hoodie.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Hayleigh Sciamonte has been located in good health, police stated last week as they thanked the public for their assistance.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is encouraged to call George Town Police Station at 949-4222.  Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.

So Hard Truth, for you the only alternative is to say nothing? Is that correct? You clearly missed the point. My point was that there needs to be more accuracy assigned to the reference of “missing”. Clearly these girls have willingly gone somewhere with someone. Because of this, there could be complacency when someone really goes missing, against their will. Hence my reference of “crying wolf”

“Meanwhile, 13-year-old Hayleigh Sciamonte has been located in good health…”

That’s it? No arrest? No charge of kidnapping? Keeping a vulnerable child from her lawful guardians and the police? While there is no punishment, there is no disincentive to commit crimes again and again. Cayman is now reaping the results of too many years of slack law enforcement and lenient sentencing. Let’s start getting tough on crime and criminals. Build a bigger courthouse, get people arrested, in court and sentenced quickly, build a bigger jail and keep them there for a long time. The rest of us will be a lot happier and safer and it will benefit the country in the short term with a good reputation with tourists and in the long term that these criminals aren’t out in the general public breeding more criminals.

These are the types of girls Estella was an advocate for. The ones who go “missing” from school and home all the time.

People need to start talking about the elephant in the room in Cayman.

    Stop hiding the truth.

    Dear Jadee,

    Please return home.

I know you don’t agree with all the rules there but trust me, it is the safest place for you at this stage of life.

In a short while you’ll be able to live your life as you want, but for the time-being it is what it is.

I would hate to read some bad news about you. Your parents feel the same, not to mention you-know-who that’s looking down from above.

    – Who

How can a child walk off the school compound at 930am?. Is there a log that a parent has to sign? If there isn’t then the schools could implement a system to avoid this happening in the future

Its not a prison with 20 ft high fences, its a school. How do you expect them to stop kids walking off if they want to?

These “missing” reports could potentially be misleading. So far, all these “missing” girls have been found in the company of someone with whom they willingly went. What is going to happen when one of them is missing under more sinister circumstances? How many times will RCIPS or their guardians/parentsy cry “wolf” before a genuine missing case may occur, which could be ignored because of these types of reports?

Maybe so, but at least there would be a timely AMBER alert over there. We have no excuse for reporting missing persons 3, 4, 5 days after they went overdue. To poster 12:46: abductions of minor children aren’t a laughing matter – these abductors need to start getting arrested by the Police and properly charged by DPP, just as they would be in other jurisdictions. We need to mature as a society through the introduction of material consequences for those that think no adult guardian permission is required when it comes to minor children. If that means that pervert uncles and/or diddling second cousins face consequences, then so be it.

There you go again, seems like you derive a lot of comfort guessing that you are not like America YET, America has to keep up with millions of these kids, you cant be responsible for four or five. You must be very proud of your record. Probably you and your caliber are also very few.———-YET.

She’s a minor….so she’s automatically classified as missing. If a child is missing it’s not crying wolf, regardless of whether they went willingly or not. Would you rather them say nothing and then the worst happens?

Was 13 year old Hayleigh Sciamonte, missing from Jan 19th found safe? Far too many of these missing children reports in a small community of our size, and public notice in every instance is days beyond acceptable norms elsewhere.

What is wrong is these girls were placed in these homes because earlier on in lives their parents/ guardians let them down by not being parents. They had to be taken out of the homes because they couldn’t manage them properly. They were never taught decipline and when the home tries to decipline them they run away back to the same homes and neighborhoods that they were removed from. This a vicious circle.
