Woman robbed in doorstep mugging

(CNS): A woman was robbed of her purse containing an undisclosed quantity of cash as she arrived at her home in West Church Street, West Bay, at around 11:30pm last night. Police said that as the woman got out of her car in front of her home on Tuesday night, 7 November, she was confronted by a man who pressed an unknown object against her side and demanded her purse. She handed over the purse, which contained personal items as well as cash. The victim described the suspect to the police as being about 6 feet tall and of slim build. He was wearing dark clothing and the lower half of his face was covered.

This incident, which happened on the same road as the West Bay Police Station is now under investigation by officers from the district, comes just days after another doorstep mugging in Washington Boulevard, George Town, in which the victim was stabbed when he fought back. And in yet another case this weekend, a robber believed to have had a knife tried to mug a woman on Boilers Road, also in George Town, before he was frightened off by a passing car.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is encouraged to call George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.

CIG fault for no foresight on Immigrations, Education and Border Protection issues. Such a small home and we have no protection. MLA’s should be ashamed of their track record. but who cares when you bank account to in the 7 figures range and your were born with nothing in hand.

12;37pm, agreed . CIG needs to make more harder laws for the criminals. Every new law made is in the criminals favor or for expats. like the murders got human rights and can’t lock them in jail more than 30 years and no hard labor, and the minium wage of $ 6 ph, is for the expats workers, for they only ones working in the houses as cleaners etc, and we have to pay them $6 ph,plus a meal, but the big hotels/restaurants only have to pay them $4.50 ph and tips if they get any, if the they had to pay the $6 (likes us) plus tips more Caymanians would work in them places.

If they get any? Have you not noticed an auto 15% added to your bill in almost every restaurant on island? You do need to have some personality though. Bad attitudes don’t get tipped. Just another uneducated excuse here.

We understand that our good honest bus driver better known to all of us by Bo Bo was robbed while on his way to open his door in Prospect. The dude who did this was said to be a tall slim guy who pushed something to his side. Being an elder man who tried to push him off they both fell. The type of robbery seems to be similar to this one and fits the same description a slim tall guy. Should be sort of easy to investigate.

These serious crimes are really getting out of hand now. Cayman is as bad as Jamaica and other impoverish islands. It’s definitely not a jewel in any crown anymore. I’ve just returned to the UK from a couple of weeks vacation in Cayman visiting friends and old work colleagues. I never left the hotel in the evenings to walk the roads. I hired a car the whole time of my stay. 20 years ago I never ever thought that I would be nervous to walk the streets of this beautiful island. It was paradise 35yrs ago when I never locked my house or car. I always walked the roads at night with not a care. Such a shame!

Begging in town by day, catching the bus back to west bay to rob at night. The same guy that you all see walking up and down town (slim, dark guy with rugged hair) begged me for cash for food. Told him I only have a card. Watched him beg another woman in front of café del sol by butterfield. She gave him cash, and as he got it, he walked to the adjacent discount liquors to buy a 345 beer.

Looks like people should leave their home well lighted and protected for when they return. .If the lights are of and security don’t answer his phone turn around and go to the Police Station and demand a escort back home .

Sound like the description of the one that held up Bo Bo . The bus driver. Tall and slim. That poor old man that charges less than anyone else for your bus fare. That was a shame to steal from a good ole man like him. Happened in his own very yard in Prospect pushing something in his side. Sounds like the same dude.
