GT man charged in supermarket fraud
(CNS): A 45-year-old George Town man is due in court tomorrow, accused of stealing cash “a significant amount of funds” from a local supermarket where he worked, police said. The man, who was arrested in November last year, was charged with obtaining property by deception ten days ago and charged on Friday with an additional count of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception. Police said he will appear in summary court Tuesday for the first time.
CNS – in describing persons involved in news stories, might you consider using their place of residence – e.g. “a George Town resident”, or “a West Bay resident”. By stating as you do, ” a George Town man”, etc. suggests the man is a native of that district/town. In this case we know the person is in fact an American employed in Grand Cayman.
Stating an accurate fact is preferable to providing implications which can be misconstrued, and is indeed essential to quality journalism.

Agreed, all the details should be released if it is furriners doing crime. If it is one of our own, golden sons of the soil then the details should be withheld and any images should be replaced with images of cats superimposed.
