(CNS): Although the district public meetings held by the new Electoral Boundary Commission have now finished, the commissioners are still looking for input from the public before they begin the work of drawing up their report and recommendations for Cayman’s shift to one man, one vote in single member constituencies.

Lisa Handley, the chair of the commission, has said that she and her fellow commissioners, Steve McField and Adrianne Webb, will hold “open house” meetings on 19, 20 and 21 May from 2-4pm at the Elections Office in Smith Road.

In his latest video report Kenneth Bryan looks at the questions surrounding the new political landscape and how it will look once the government amends the elections law to introduce the long-anticipated changes.

From the emotive issue over the possible merger of East End and North Side to where the line will be drawn to split Cayman Brac and Little Cayman into its constitutionally protected two seats, the commissioners are in a position to create a political firestorm with the sweep of a pen. They also face the daunting task of working out where boundaries should be drawn in the fastest growing area of Cayman between Prospect in George Town and the Savannah Newlands area of Bodden Town.
