Two armed police units crash en route to call
(CNS): Two vehicles from the RCIPS Firearms Response Unit (FRU) were involved in a three-car pile up in West Bay at lunchtime on Wednesday, which caused damage to all three cars as well as serious traffic congestion in the area of the four-way stop. Police said both of the SUVs from the FRU crashed with a white private car as they were en route to a call.
Fortunately, no one was hurt but the smash, which left some eight armed officers on the road, is now under investigation.
No details were given regarding the report that caused the FRU to be on the road, and the police did not say if other units were directed to deal with it.

How many the officers driving where are they from, it seems to me that they should all have to retake there driving exam and go to driving school.
It is amazing how much ignorance and prejudice can show in the comment section of such a simple article. We are so close to the borderline of incivility when we can comment without repercussion. On-the-other-hand, most of the people who are so hateful here are probably the same ones who make similar stupid comments in other articles; the noisy few.
They drive like they still in Kingston. No change when they come to foreign. They should all have to take a driving test when they come here.
Can they have someone walking in front of police cars waving a red flag to warn the public that disaster is approaching.
National embarrassment.
The first time they sit in an new vehicle enjoying a/c. Poor drivers.
I can’t recall ever pulling over after hearing a siren and/or seeing the flashing lights of a police car/ambulance/fire truck, that the car behind me didn’t use that opportunity to overtake me.
Exactly! I had an idiot try to pass me yesterday morning on North Church Street where there isn’t enough room to pull off the road completely. He only pulled up behind me at the last second as the police car was passing in the opposite direction.
They gave this lot guns? Actual real guns 😂😂
Shame it wasn’t a 3 way stop, then this would not have happened.
Under educated. Too late to fix.
This article makes no sense, “Fortunately, no one was hurt but the smash, which left some eight armed officers on the road”
what does this mean.
Breath tests? what about drug testing’s for legal and illegal drugs. Being under the influence can also be attributed to drugs as well as alchohol, it in the traffic law?
Also, how is the civilian driver/passengers, were they hurt or who care’s.
CNS: “On the road” = without a vehicle, i.e. on foot. We have no information about the driver/passengers in the car. That’s all the RCIPS gave us and then only because we requested it.
Look forward to seeing the dashcam footage 🙂
RCIPS reminds us all of the old movie “Police Academy”.
Especially if they have eight arms!
Yeah, like the footage from Coral Beach bar. Deleted and burned.
If this was a private citizen and he was the victim of a car hitting him, he would immediately have to take a breath test. In the case of the “dynamic” armed response squad of the RCIPS will this happen? Regardless, in the public sector one of the drivers would be prosecuted for dangerous driving. Will any of the “Keystone Cops” meet the same fate? I doubt it. Laughable.
I had to take a breath test on the way to the hospital with my sick daughter at 2 am simply because “one of your headlights are out”. Was sober as a judge! Wtf
Was going to take a shot at the FRU (Pun intended) but honestly sometimes accidents just happen, that’s why it not called an “on purpose “.
FRU always drives pretty reckless for having flashing lights and a lot of times the sirens are not on when they are speeding going somewhere on the road. FACTS!!
They drive fast to get to breakfast, lunch or dinner, just like the rest of the civil “servants “. Then come to a halt when they have to work
Lets not forget casually walking in with pistols on their hip as if the restaurant is a cowboy parlor. Dude, we’re picking up lunch there’s no emergency besides the cost of oxtail and bullets na solving it.
I’d hazard a guess that it’s safer and more practical to keep their sidearms on their person, than leave them in a vehicle.
Of course, the ridiculous swagger that some have is amazing.
They keep more powerful guns than that in the vehicle. Hello, they don’t respond with just pistols.
Yes, secured. The point still stands. It’s safer and more convenient to keep pistols on them.
@7.50. Entrance test test for FRU. Hold a hollow tube 4 feet long with your hand over each end. Put a tennis ball in it. If you can walk and the ball can touch both palms, you’re in! Alternatively, place a rolled up carpet under each armpit. Walk and hold for 30 feet, you’re in!
So why did a third police vehicle then arrive and totally box the white car in from the front…
He was looking for a place to park
So, what happened?? Who did what? Who still doesn’t understand how a 4 way stop works?
Oh, that’s right, none of you!! LOL
I see it every day….
Not to mention those that treat a roundabout as a 4 way stop!
I have to say the FRU seem to love driving those SUVs as fast as possible. Sure they are on call, but there has to be some judgement of risk.
So much for training…
ah wa dat mi come from yaad
FRU?
Firearm Response Unit…….
FRU proudly supports the CRU, Crash Response Unit!
LMFAO!!!!!
CLASSIC!!!!
1,000,000,000 thumbs up… ROTFL!!!!
Methinks they forgot that they were driving in Cayman and not Kingston.
I don’t know the details of this incident but people need to learn how to pull over to the left when a police car, fire truck or ambulance approach.
So many times I’ve seen cars just keep driving like they are oblivious or just mash their brakes because they don’t know what to do.
GET OUT OF THE WAY. At times, a few seconds could be the difference in someone’s life being saved.
Police on this island are not TRAINED to save people Like civilized places. THey just let you lay there and bleed out and die BLM but not to them
eh? where is this coming from?
What a pile of garbage Mr. “Caymanian”.
Police, Fire, Paramedics are all trained to respond and save lives.
Keep playing the victim.
Ummm is that what the police did when that unfortunate stabbing victim lay on the ground bleeding out while they stood by their vehicles and conversed? It would appear you have a short memory or a selective memory. As that did happen. So no ‘caymanian’ is not playing the victim. You are playing stupid!
I’d hazard a guess that it’s safer and more practical to keep their sidearms on their person, than leave them in a vehicle.
Of course, the ridiculous swagger that some have is amazing.
Yep. I witnessed today a fire truck with sirens and lights going come up behind a car at the intersection of dump road. Guess what the car did. Turned into dump road as the fire truck was trying to pass him on the right. People don’t respect pull over to the left and get out of the way.
Because most people drive with a fixed stare and don’t know the proper usage of mirrors and the proper usage is to scan every 5-8 secs when driving
fixed on their phones you mean
Amateurs.
