(CNS): Motorists on the Linford Pierson Highway were being urged to drive with caution Friday evening after a dump truck crashed, which led to an oil leak on the road. Police said the collision happened just before 2:30pm near the roundabout closest to the Crewe Road junction. Gravel has been applied to the spill but it still presents a hazard. Traffic officers were directing traffic in the area and drivers were asked to follow all instructions given by those officers.

Tied for second is the other 90% of the population who are so impatient, have no regard for the speed limit, rules of the road and consideration for other road users that they seem to they think have a God given right to speed excessively in order to be a few seconds a head of you regardless of whether it is safe to do so or not. Third is for all those who REFUSE to stop at a roundabout when they have no right of way.

Since when does gravel absorb oil? Shouldn’t the oil absorbing medium be something porous and wicking like sawdust? The gravel will just chew up the road and spin debris marbles into the non-delineated “cycle lane”, and the oil will still be hiding under that layer waiting to cause a future accident.

Dump trucks are constantly speeding around like they are qualifying for a Guinness World Record speed runs, jack braking down through every gear into each roundabout, brazenly audible for miles. Right past the front door of at least 3 police stations. The buck stops with the Police Commissioner on this inaction. Byrne clearly needs to go if he doesn’t think basic Traffic Duty qualifies as community Police work. So tired of this dangerous and offensive inaction. Fire him!!!

Oh, a dump truck got into an accident? But they are the best drivers in Cayman. Well, second only to the immaculate driving of our wonderful taxi and bus mafia.
