Premier to attend former Jamaican leader’s funeral
Premier Alden McLaughlin and his political advisor, Roy Tatum, will travel to Jamaica this weekend to attend the funeral of former Jamaica Prime Minister Edward Seaga, the premier’s office has said. There will be a state funeral for the man who led Jamaica through the 1980’s on Sunday, 23 June, at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Kingston. Afterwards, Seaga will be buried at the National Heroes Park.
Jamaica’s fifth prime minister, who died of cancer on his 89th birthday last month, had visited the Cayman Islands many times and had close ties with people here. He led the Jamaica Labour Party for more than 40 years until he retired in 2005.

And Im reading alot of NEGATIVE THINGS too about Seaga from other websites. Something about guns, “rasta have no cia,” and gangs. More so now that some JA politicians are thinking about making this man a National Hero.
Nothing on theft? Do ppl easily forget?
Wonderful. If only they would both stay there!
But the damage Aldart has set in motion will continue forever.
As if Dart hasn’t already started to buy up Jamaica!
Bit like JuJu and her “helper”.
Why does he need to take his political adviser with him.. He is going to a funeral what advice does need other than show up, look sad and offer condolences. Or am I missing something?
Name one country leader that travels alone.
Gotta have the entourage. The minimum level of entourage for a politician is an assistant like Roy who takes notes, receives and delivers messages including from and to Cayman, provides advice on the spot, etc. He also helps with scheduling, prioritising and so forth. I’ve seen him show his phone to or need to whisper something to Alden in meetings and then either sit back down or leave the room to do what Alden said. He also seems to double up as a sort of body man (would bring Alden a drink or bottle of water if he couldn’t get it himself etc.). Think of him like Alden’s caddy. I don’t know any head of government who travels internationally alone.
God bless Roy!
I have not been to those meetings you talk about but i know Roy and he is no ones caddy. From the time I know him he been involved with politics. A trusted advisor perhaps, Alden’s right hand perhaps, a senior member of the PPM perhaps, a part of the Government caucus perhaps, but a caddy he is not. Try again.
6:42 To take photos of him for Twitter.
But it does not stop him attending, if he wishes.
He would go…. if he was leader.
How come McKeeva Bush, Cayman’s own JLP puppet, isn’t going??!
Mr Bush is already in Jamaica: he’s been there from Tuesday.
Shows how much you know – zilch.
And he’s not a puppet.
9.49pm Right!, puppets don’t gamble.
He had to arrive before the Premier to pull off his publicity stunt and get in some casino time. According to Bush, Jamaica does not like or respect Alden and still treats him with the respect of Premier of the Cayman Islands. Of course travelling at our expense.
They only report where the Premier is going not the de-facto Premier, McKeeva.
