Webb secures bail with luxury goods

(CNS): Jeffrey Webb has secured his US$10 million bail bond with 11 luxury watches, his wife’s jewellery, including her wedding ring, three high-end cars and 10 properties, according to US press reports. The details have been revealed in an order filed in a Brooklyn court on Monday setting out Webb’s bail terms. The former FIFA vice president used Rolexes, a Cartier Roadster and other designer timepieces, including a Hublot, which is expected to be handed over to the FBI by 3 August, two weeks ahead of Webb’s next court appearance on 17 August.
The other pricey watches were listed as a Breitling, Panerai, Royal Oak Offshore and Luminor Marina. Webb also put up a 2015 Ferrari and 2014 Range Rover in the name of his wife, Dr Kendra Gamble-Webb, a 2003 Mercedes-Benz in his own name, and a 401K account also in his wife’s name. In addition Gamble-Webb handed over her diamond wedding ring, a diamond bracelet, a diamond and pearl necklace, one pair of pearl earrings and one pair of long-hanging diamond earrings, as well as two more designer watches, including another Rolex and a Hublot.
CNS has posted a poor copy of the order below, which shows that Gamble-Webb has also put up her equity interest in a company and the couple have also secured the bond with ten properties.
Webb made his first appearance in a Brooklyn court Saturday and after pleading not guilty to all charges he was released from custody on the basis of the $10 million bond and placed under house arrest. He is required to stay away from all FIFA and former FIFA officials and has also surrendered his British and Caymanian passports. He is wearing an electronic monitor, which he has paid for, and is staying at a residence that is within a twenty-mile radius of the US district courthouse.
Arguably the most famous Caymanian in the world, Webb was arrested on 27 May in Zürich based on allegations made by the US authorities that he was involved in a massive $150 million FIFA racketeering and bribery scandal. The US Department of Justice, the FBI and the IRS revealed the investigation shortly after the arrest in Switzerland of Webb and six others embroiled in the scandal. He was the first of the seven to agree to the extradition and arrived in the US last Thursday.
Since his arrest, Webb has also been charged in an unrelated criminal case in Cayman. The director of public prosecutions has stated that the office is seeking to extradite Webb back home to answer allegations of fraud and breach of trust in relation to a government hospital contract for a card payment system that was awarded to a company Webb is allegedly connected to.
The former HSA board chairman, Canover Watson, and his former PA, Miriam Rodriguez, have also been charged in the local CarePay fraud case and they are currently due to stand trial in November, having already pleaded not guilty to earlier charges.

Looks like Jeff just got his first lesson in which is more important, his freedom or 10 million worth of luxury property.
Why is this so surprising? Hard to put up actual cash if it has all been hidden away in layers of shell companies. If you accessed the shell company to get the money you are essentially confirming to the authorities that the money is yours. Hard to claim no knowledge or ownership of the structures after.
And that is how the Caymans got rich . . .

There is no duty on watches in Cayman, so I expect the answer to be no. Just hope none of the 10 watches were gifts for FIFA favours, as he could have just given more evidence to the US.

Let’s put this story and those assets in context – before Webb was elected as FIFA VP and CONCACAF President on 23 May 2012 (that’s only three years ago) he was a Business Development Manager at Fidelity Bank, part owner in the Captain’s Bakery and CIFA President.
So this all represents a pretty impressive lifestyle upgrade over such a short period. What are we expected to think he did to get it – win the lottery?
Maybe it’s time to start investigating the contracts for upgrading all the soccer grounds and building the CIFA ‘Centre of Excellence’? Someone for sure had a lottery win there.

I think he is innocent. Captain Bakery bakes a whole lot of dough and every customer has to demand their receipts from the cashiers to ensure that none of his dough is shared. That is why he is so dam rich.
