Drug mule dies after swallowing cocaine
(CNS): The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service says the unidentified 44-year-old man who was found dead at a residence in Prospect at around 10pm on Monday 1 October died after he had swallowed a large number of pellets containing drugs. The RCIPS said a post-mortem on the man, who had just returned to the Cayman Islands from Honduras before his body was discovered, determined that he had ingested cocaine in packets that had ruptured, leading to an overdose. The police said he had swallowed around CI$25,000 worth of the narcotic.
Following the findings of the post-mortem, further tests are pending before the official cause of death will be determined. The matter is now under investigation by the Coroner’s Office.

And a labour force to do the jobs most Caymanians find below their arrogant, snobbish selves to perform.
Yep. Certain of the well necktyed educated class that know the law or have a respected position, must have clever ways to get around the law and bring them here. Police may never find them out. Who dares to search a rich or elite man’s yaught, business, home, car, or plane? We still have two missing women presumed dead, and we think low thugs did them something. We are always catching the street thugs? What about investigating those in high places?
CRIME BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Plenty of folks know the identity of this “drug mule”. He is well known, and up until now, respected. Why the big hiding of his identity?
Jamaica produces ganja and cocaine. Police have been seen smoking ganja and doing shots of rum in public places. Tourists have told me many times. They need to do a drug test randomly in Cayman to everybody. We would be surprised to find out how many non Caymanians are doing drugs from ecstasy to meth. We could make enough money in fines to pay cash for a high school.
No matter where the drugs come from, it’s the coke-heads in Cayman that drive the demand.
check the law firms!
It’s the people using the drugs that create the demand. You think Honduras is the only place coke comes from? Tell all the coke-heads in Cayman to give it a break!
It is the fact the stuff is so good that creates the demand. The demand will always be there. It is the failed “war on drugs” that is the reason people like this man suffer.
Yep we now have Cayman Airways flying directly to Honduras. Surely makes it a lot easier for criminals to bring drugs into Cayman. No need to go through Miami. Unbelievable!
I believe our Premier described it as a great opportunity to have direct trade with Honduras!
What the heck do they have to offer us, drugs, and gangs?
The best stuff is landed directly.
To the moron who complained of “no body scanners in Bannana (sic) Republic of Cayman”… Body scanners do not x-ray through the human body, they scan items under the clothing. So, how would a body scanner have detected packets in his intestine?
Sorry going to use your comment as an example.
People, stop replying to other comments in a new comment. Reply to them under the original comment. It’s annoying when someone replies using a time stamp to refer to someone then you have to find that comment to figure out what you’re talking about.
the person who made the initial comment is a complete idiot.
…..and some people snort that “crap” !!
Live and learn, R.I.P. it’s not worth it, drug dealing will never make you well of in the Cayman Islands. Drug the last prohibition
You have to live to be able to learn though
Could have sold those drugs for his funeral expenses – who has to pay now?
You are SICK!
Live stupid, die stupid. Got absolutely no sympathy here, he knew the risks and took them.
You play a stupid game, you win a stupid prize.
customs????
No body scanners in the Bannana Republic of Cayman
Can’t even spell banana…my, my
Lmfaoooo
Wot duz dat spell?
Didn’t realize that other non banana republics xrayed all incoming passengers? What republic are you from?
No body scanners but yet we have detected things that were missed by the US with their body scanners and all their other bells and whistles.
We don’t need people like you running down our island and if you are Caymanian, you should be ashamed of yourself.
It isn’t against the law to be a little bit stupid, is it?
customs didnt catch it…need for x-ray machine and more screening at airport…poor guy! rip
Where do they X-ray incoming passengers?
He had eaten the drugs. How the hell do you think an x ray machine would have caught that? You want him to go through the hand baggage scanner? Or are you like 5:07 and think that the body scanners at airports like Miami actually look under the skin? SMH. Only way they would have caught this guy was if they knew in advance, or if someone was prepared to lock him up on suspicion because he was acting oddly and wait for nature to take its course.
climb out of your crab hole, they catch people with drugs inside their body every day in Colombia, why? Because they want to. Simple body scanners and x-ray. If you have Netflix look for Drug Wars, it’s all there for you to see.
Everyone should have to go through the hand baggage scanner.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
No matter, I am very sad to hear of this. RIP
Hondarus is a huge problem for Cayman and no one talks about it…
Everyone blames Jamaica when Hondarus is just as bad
Actually Honduras is way worse than Jamaica.
… but they are both very bad, including for Cayman.
Better he died before he and his gang had the opportunity to spread that $&!T! around Cayman
Don’t worry that little bit of drugs would have been eating up in a day by the upper class of this island, wouldn’t have gotten a chance to hit the streets for it to spread around.
there you have it kids…don’t eat drugs
OMG
May he RIP
Condolences to his family and friends
The lesson is dont do drugs. Instead get a job at bank, develop trust with the community, sell off your million dollar investment and give the community you call home the finger, and then do all the drugs you want!
LMFAOOOOO!! It’s only Tuesday but this is comment of the week!!
No it is sad. Persons who got an education, worked hard, & invested their money are being castigated for doing so. That path was/is open to all of us. But it will not fall out of the tree you decided to sit around under.
Or get a job at _ _ _ _ get your free staff polyn card and use it to cut up the drugs you do at work properly!
Sad. He didn’t had hands like you and me. So he couldn’t work like us. But you play around with a sinful substance that ruin people’s lives, you will get burn.
My condolences to his family.
