(CNS): Police are asking for information in relation to a shooting on Sunday night outside the Power Supply Bar at the Marquee Plaza on Lawrence Boulevard in the heart of the Seven Mile Beach tourist area. The police responded to a 911 call about shots fired just after 7:20pm on 18 December and found shell casings t the location. The officers learned that a man had been shot in his torso following an altercation at the rear of the bar and had been taken by a private vehicle to hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries.

Police said his condition remains critical but stable. No arrests have yet been made as the Criminal Investigations Department gets to work on this latest incident of gun violence. Detectives said they are aware that there were several people at the Marquee Plaza at the time of the incident, and they are urging witnesses to come forward.

I was having dinner with my family at Cimboco when it happened. Nothing in the world like taking a Caribbean holiday and watching real violence play out over din din with the kids.

I’m going back to Miami where it’s safer (true, statistically). Too many violent people here now. I miss our gentle island in times gone by

How many witnesses will speak up ? This is why we are not making a dent in the crime problem, nobody will talk, because the idiotic street code of not informing (Which only makes the criminals bolder) has become ingrained in our young people. They would rather watch some cold blooded killer gun down their best friend and keep the info to themselves because they “na no informa”. Then they will be at the funeral wearing his T-Shirt making noise about “why lord why?”. Bunch of idiots!

The Police have a proven track record of not protecting witnesses unfortunately either through negligence or indifference, it is hard to tell

Until they prove they can, few people will ever come forward

Yep. This bar needs to be shut down NOW. Just a matter of time before someone is murdered there.

    • What is this plaza coming to? says:

Who thought it was a good idea to have a bar in the middle of a daytime plaza, was my first thought when I first saw it there.
This is an accident waiting to happen, fortunate it wasn’t a kid waiting for a burger.

Police key witness was shot right next to the governor’s house. In regards to crime, the police are either a) completely incompetent, or b) completely involved. Possibly both. But definitely at least one of those two.

You hire ex-JCF criminals with ties back to family in Jamaica, including the gangs, and expect Cayman to improve from that decision? Laughable at best, and whoever is making decisions at the RCIPS should be fired.
