Axe-wielding robbers strike at GT restaurant

| 21/11/2022 | 26 Comments

(CNS): Police opened an investigation into the tenth robbery since the end of October after two men, one armed with an axe, struck a restaurant in George Town during the Pirates Fest activities on Friday night. The two masked men burst into the restaurant on North Church Street at around 10pm and tried to open the cash registers. The men were unable to access the machines, however, and so robbed two people at the location of cash and personal possessions. They then fled on foot in the direction of Seafarers Way. Both men were dressed in black with their faces fully covered. No one was injured during the incident, police said.

The robbery has been added to the long list of around two dozen armed robberies and street muggings that have been reported to police since August. According to senior officers, CID is closing in on the culprits, having identified around ten local men, who are known to the police and the criminal justice system and believed to be responsible for this robbery spike.

Anyone with information on this or any of the robberies is asked to contact George Town CID at 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777, or the website.

take a sparse report and give some sparse account of it… less to sweep under the rug 😉

No sooner had they announced “ 👮Police focused on gang of local robbery suspects” than “ 🪓Axe-wielding robbers strike at GT restaurant”.

What happened to RCIPS focus? Do they need to see an optometrist?

Restaurant meals are not cheap change. So why don’t they say payment is card-only ? At least then the robbers – assuming they have even a little education – will no longer target that place for a quick cash snatch.

We know that criminals are cowards. Now we know that they are also idiots. I fully expect their apprehension quite soon.

    What restaurant? Name?

RCIPS appeal for info might be more effective if they, you know, actually named the restaurant where the crime occurred.

I’ve been thinking this island is slowly morphing into a tiny Jamaica, never thought we’d be heading down the Kung Fu Hustle route.

Great movie if you haven’t seen it satire aside, think we all need a laugh right about now.

what is going on? I have been coming to the Cayman Islands since the ’80s. Most of the crime seems to have been committed in the last month. It may be time to start weeding out the criminals before the country gets a bad reputation. The citizens can help. Remember – if you see something, say something

I’m not sure if this was the Disappearing Honda Naughty Boys. Seems like these two Axe Men are new. Singapore style surveillance throughout the small island. Cayman has tens of millions in budget surplus every year so excuses. This is 2022 it’s not rocket science setting up HD surveillance hire the best international and get it done. The alternative is letting these retarded Axe Men and Honda Naughty Boys continue to terrorize the island

They would certainly think twice if they had to guess if the business owner or one of the patrons was armed. We are sitting ducks for these thugs and they know it.

So, anyone with information on the undisclosed location and people involved, call those that never leave the station, so they can add latest unsolved mystery to the warehouse.
