(CNS): Jason Johnson (36), who was shot and killed on Sunday night outside his home in Bronze Avenue, George Town, was not associated with gangs, police believe, and the murder, which does not appear to be gang-related, was the result of a local dispute. Policing in the community has increased, and detectives are working on a number of leads, but no arrests have yet been made in relation to the third murder of the year.

Johnson, a Jamaican national who was working in construction, was gunned down as he stood outside his house at around 8:30pm in a neighbourhood not known for gun-related crime. He was taken in a friend’s car to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The RCIPS is asking anyone who witnessed this incident or has any information about it to call
911 or the RCIPS Major Incident Room (MIR) at 649-2930.

Anonymous tips can be provided to the RCIPS Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or the website.

So he was shot by someone who had a legal firearm? Or someone who had an illegal firearm but no involvement in gangs? Pull the other one, it’s got bells on.

Of course he is not associated with gang culture. If he were we would never have allowed him to come and live here and if he was already here we would have secured his immediate removal from the jurisdiction.

We have laws around here, you know!

May the victim rest in peace, and the perpetrator be brought to justice.

Gun crime is gun crime. Anyone using a gun for crime in Cayman needs to get a life sentence.

Instead of Police Celebrations.. can the cops hold district meetings with residents?
Long overdue, as crimes increase everywhere!!
