Mac’s CPC speech stirs up public outrage
(CNS): The appearance of McKeeva Bush MP, the beleaguered former Cayman Islands premier and former speaker of the House, at the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) in Accra, Ghana, this week has fuelled public outrage. The fact that Bush was representing Cayman on an international platform has raised concern, given his existing conviction for assault and two pending trials for sexual assault and rape, which he has denied.
The subject matter has also enraged environmentalists. Bush delivered an address on “Tackling Climate Change through Environmental Impact Assessments”, though the West Bay MP also spoke out for the development lobby, talking about balance and not allowing environmental requirements to “smother our development needs”.
With over-development still a significant concern, many people here believe that the balance has always tipped in favour of development, which is in absolutely no danger of being smothered. When news spread that Bush was in Ghana at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s annual conference, social media lit up with objections, especially local conservation and environmental chat groups, given Bush’s views that development should remain at the heart of the local economy.
Many other people objected to him taking to the global stage because of his past and current legal troubles and felt that he should not be representing Cayman at any official events.

Another occasion to change the Coat of Arms and replace the Pineapple with Crossed Bananas – much more appropriate for what the island is becoming.
After reading all about the terrible things our fearless leaders do, I have decided that they are trying to out-do the government leaders of the United States. Forget about it, fellows……The U.S. leaders have the best liars in the world!
Why are you blaming Mac, these conferences is selected by a panel, approved by the LA and paid by us the people. He was a representative of the Government of the Cayman Islands NOW cast the blame.
Better late than never.
I still see Mac’s decision to make his idiotic joy-ride as a stupid and totally unethical decision ! Who else wanted him to take such a stupid joy ride? It must have been someone with a mental problem!
Bizness as usual.
Maybe someday Mac will disappear but until then it will continue to be shameful…
Oh, there’s plenty waiting in the wings to take his place…
12.02 There are many more anxious to replace him and all our MPs but fortunately for us they are prevented from doing so by the Constitution.
Our ex-leader is lower than whale poop! I can’t think of anything good that he did for the Cayman Islands!
A few dozen comments on CNS is not an outrage. There are no open protests, petitions or parliamentary actions. A drug dealer and woman beater were elected by the democratic process. The people get the government they deserve, and when good men do nothing evil prevails.
Can we send him as a Peace Representative in Sudan?
What exactly is the benefit to Cayman from Bush’s trip? Do you think he’ll come back better educated about sustainability and pass that knowledge on? Will he report back to the House in any way shape or form?
Nope, he’ll just stick his nose in the trough, empty the mini-bar, try and find a casino, and look around hopefully for a goody bag for delegates.
We’ll have got off lightly if that’s all he gets up to….
Although a few of the women in the photo did look a little anxious..!
Tell them not to worry, it’s a cultural thing.
Only in Cayman could a convicted criminal be allowed to represent it abroad.
Kind of like our Minister for Tourism.
Being entirely sincere I am not sure which of the two scenarios below would be more in the national interest:
Taking away his passport so he can’t travel and embarrass us further (but meaning that we are stuck with him here)
or
sending him on a trip and not letting him back into the Islands so we can finally be rid of him for good
How much time did he spend at the ashawo joints in Accura
Prices start at about 50 cents CI.
or was he only in the Millionaires Casino where they are about $35 CI.
The Cayman Islands. Land of absolutely no accountability.
I thought he was broke just a couple of weeks ago? I hope he isn’t the treasurer of Cayman’s chapter of the CPA.
He doesn’t use his own money on these trips…silly..
All paid for by you and I dear, on the public purse. Way to go CIG… NOT! SMH…
It’s like sending a physical assault perpetrator to a conference with a focus to empowering women, – oh, we did 🙄
Please provide evidence of the so called outrage. No one cares…
I care. I think he should be made to get his sorry ass out of the Cayman Islands…… Forever.
keyboard warriors assemble. we must let them know of the outrage, and do absolutely f. all about it.
same old same old.
Absolutely no a countability from him or whoever allowed him to even go. Gobs smacked.
Making Cayman look so bad
We Keep forgetting to thank Kenneth for saving Mac’s backside , when his vote would have removed the scourge .
Birds of a feather. They have a lot in common..
“Don’t Stop The Carnival”
Chairman of a construct his forever-honorable has written he formally resents and objects to. Grant his wish and clear him off all diplomatic functions and representative functions. Cancel his passport. Ghana can have him.
Unfortunately, unless he has another passport, CIG really cannot cancel his CI passport, as he would be a man without a country and we would be stuck with him forever.
YUCK
Jamaican passport BOGO with every CHEC doctorate?
I would say this is truly unbelievable, but since it’s McKeeva, nothing is.
He is a national disgrace and whoever approved his trip or knew he was going should have said something before he went. That man should NEVER be representing us anywhere.
No doubt as usual, he flew First Class and had limousines picking him up and dropping him off.
Absolutely shameful that this man represents Cayman Islands.
I would prefer “IDIOTIC”.
Any casinos in Accra? Asking for a friend.
Should be in jail….
Read the headline an scowled wondering why tf he was selected/allowed to go!
Then read the article and liked that this was addressed twice in the article. Even 3 wouldn’t be enough to knock that in their head. But really, they don’t care what the majority of the people want or care about.
The only concession I can establish with sending McBeater is that he is the absolute exemplar to demonstrate the opposite of what the CPC’s agenda is about, – has to be Wayne just having a laff

From the begining it was clear that PACT was always going to have a hard time to survive as a group.
Mac, Alden, UDP and PPM / Progressives planted spies and traitors in PACT, some have identified themselves already and have been exposed, others are still on their disruptive mission.
Some still in PACT are on their greedy lust for power, some are just common “PARTY IN POWER” (PIP) leeches.
All of these leeches only think of their own selfinterest.
Caymanians we are in dangerous waters be careful to whom you place your trust. Examine their history and past actions.
You make zero sense. If this were the actual case then they would have had the numbers to form a government from the get go. The uneducated love conspiracy theories. Make it make sense.
Say wha? You have lost the plot?
what will they do/say if he is convicted? He flew Business Class to boot!! LOL
Vomit!
he still getting away for his jollies….even though ‘he does not like flying’…..zzzzzzzzz
McKeeva Bush is a national disgrace.
West Bayers who’ve kept him in office for 40 years in exchange for turkeys and appliances should hang their heads in shame. The damage you’ve allowed McKeeva to cause will be felt for generations.
Cult leaders have no shame.
Anyone know who went with him.
Pigs with snouts in troughs always travel first class, and stay 5 star.
Surely a “delegation” represented Cayman..?
Generations? This place has at most 20 years max!!
Someone, somewhere had to approve McKeeva’s attendance and presentation. Follow that trail. Someone screwed up.
Ask Speaker Kathy Ebanks-Wilks how the decision was made.
Dear Kathy,
How was this stupid decision made?
the Parliaments Management Council (Which includes the Premier) makes the call!!
Dear Kathy,
Can we get an honest Parliaments Management Council?
The Premier approves travel for Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries.
His travel as an MP is approved by the Speaker.
Yeah, the blame sits squarely with Wayne and this sham that is PACT. They continue to allow him to sit on the government benches so they can keep their slim majority. What an absolute shame. Is she really supported, Wayne?
Wayne? Wayne can’t tell him nothing. Wayne needed him to form his sham government and he needs him even more now to desperately cling to power.
Mac going back to his roots? Or just seeking one more place for political asylum?
Where’s his walker? Divine healing?
Yup, he wasn’t using it at Macabuca a week ago, looked pretty agile to me (relatively speaking).
Only for court representation.
I have to hand it to Teflon Mac, I have been here for 27 years and I have seen him dodge a hundred bullets and still be on the public stage. Truly incredible.
Reminds me of the great orange one. Shameful and shameless.
That man knows where the bodies are buried. ALL of them.
I must say based on all his bad behavior and habits he remains the most sensible person in the cayman island government
I assume you meant to say ‘despite’ not ‘based on’?
Bush has taken the proverbial piss for 40 years. His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC,DSO,MC,CBE,Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular salutes your indefatigability.
What’s the possibility of leaving him there forever, can we cancel his passport.
who is responsible for sending him there?
any comment wayne or governor?
Why are we surprised?
It’s the latest example of government and civil service prioritizing protecting and rewarding corrupt MP’s and employees over supporting whistleblowers and victims. This tendency to vilify those who speak up against wrongdoing undermines the very principles of justice and accountability. It’s crucial for a government to address corruption transparently and genuinely, rather than presenting a facade of being world-class while brushing such issues under the rug.
What, other than your obvious personal obsession with trashing the civil service, does it have to do with Bush, a politician, being on this junket? The answer is absolutely nothing at all. This is a politics/politicians scandal embarrassing us all, not a civil service initiated one.
How many civil servants were we employing to identify, prevent, and prosecute law breaking?
Any investigation as to any of the more odious status grants yet?
Our elected officials get away with what our civil service allows them to.
I wonder if this civil service basher was fired from the service or didn’t pass the interview. If he/she wakes up with a cough the civil service is blamed. Like every other organization there are good and not so good. Try to find some place to move to without civil service. Can’t believe the scant vocabulary!
I’d perhaps focus on your own grammatical errors before throwing out insults about someone’s use of the English language.
Yes, those who speak about the wrongdoings of others are incredibly somehow punished while the actual wrongdoing goes unaddressed. Damn shameful
8;33 you are obviously part of the problem. you don’t play by the rules you so hopelessly complain about.
I would love to hear your thoughts on PACT appointing their unqualified friends to government boards.
Bush travel is not a civil service matter.
He just cannot let it go.
That’s not McKeeva Bush. It’s a clone put out by the PACT party. Down with PACT! 😂
You say PACT should be replaced, but by which group?
Hopefully if PACT is replaced it will not be by the real creators of the mess up sell out that is the Cayman Islands – Alden’s PPM / PROGRESSIVES or UDP r whatever those groups’ current name is.
MAC, Alden, Joey and Roy have all been in govermment for too long and done too much damage to the future of Multigenerational Caymanians.
Be careful not to jump from the frying pan into the fire!
