Cayman News Service(CNS): A 47-year-old George Town woman was arrested early New Year’s Day as a result of two violent assaults at a West Bay Road bar, one of which was witnessed by police officers. At around 2:00am, the police were called to a bar just south of public beach, which CNS understands was the Jungle in Trafalgar Place, where they saw a large group of people outside the bar and witnessed the woman hit a man in the face. She was said to have been engaged in an argument with several people before striking the 25-year-old man, who was known to her.

Shortly after her arrest the man she struck was also arrested for being drunk and disorderly after he began causing trouble for the officers, the RCIPS said in a release.

Soon after the arrests were made, police learned that the same woman had also assaulted another female at the location before officers arrived. That woman had sustained injuries, including lacerations to her eyes, and had been taken by others to the hospital.

Both the man and the woman were released on bail as investigations into the bar room violence continue.
