Cayman Islands Hospital, George Town

(CNS): A woman remains in hospital in stable condition awaiting further treatment for serious injuries following a single-vehicle smash just off Shamrock Road around 9pm on Tuesday, police said Wednesday afternoon. The collision happened when the Honda CRV veered off the side of the road. Both the man driving and his female passenger sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries when the car crashed into a concrete wall near Spice Drive. The driver was able to get out of vehicle but his companion was stuck in the vehicle and had to be removed by the Cayman Islands Fire Service.

Police said the car was extensively damaged, as well as the wall it collided into. There are no indications that the driver is facing any potential charges.

Speed doesn’t kill, impact does!, you can be doing 25,or 30mph and hit a wall dead on and it can be proven to be fatal.
I wish those involved a quick recovery, thank God it wasn’t much worse ,and for the judgmental ones here on CNS, be careful on the road please, accidents do happen.

Speed and careless driving causes accidents. If you don’t speed the severity of the impact lessens. People never learn!!

Not even a reckless driving ticket? Excessive speed? Nothing?

There was no ice or snow and presumably no oil slick, so the driver should at least be prosecuted for careless driving. This type of accident happens here every week, how can local drivers be so bad?.

I’m sure there was no oil slick, but a word of warning. I ride a motorcycle and after it has rained, from my vantage point all I see in the middle of the road is the rainbow splash of fuel that has leaked from vehicles. You can even see where the frequency increases in places traffic goes slower. In a car, you don’t see it, but believe me, these roads are coated in baked on, as well as freshly dropped fuel.
