McKeeva Bush’s mugshot in Florida

(CNS): The speaker of the Legislative Assembly and former premier of the Cayman Islands, McKeeva Bush, was arrested in Florida, Monday outside a casino. Bush was reportedly released on a $1,000 bond after he was taken into custody over an altercation with a member of staff. The Seminole police record states he was arrested on suspicion of touch or strike/battery, a misdemeanor charge, in relation to the argument.

CNS has contacted Bush, who we understand remains in the United States, but we have not received a response and we have been unable to confirm any of the rumours about the incident relating to his arrest that have been circulating on social media.

Bush not only holds one of the most senior official posts in Cayman as the parliament’s speaker but he is also a key member of the PPM-led coalition government. CNS has also reached out to Premier Alden McLaughlin, whose government depends on the support of Bush and his two CDP members to hold a majority, but we have not yet received a reply from him or any statement from his office .

Let me guess, the “nicely” dressed staff at the Hard Rock Casino wasn’t impressed by our politician. In there you’re not a “high roller”, that’s not the Havana Club on West Bay Road. Those things may work in Honduras, Cuba and even in your own country but not in the US…How embarrassing.

“The crime of Simple Battery or Misdemeanor Battery is defined under Section 784.03, Florida Statutes. In Florida, the term battery means: Any actual and intentional touching or striking of another person against that person’s will (non-consensual), or. The intentional causing of bodily harm to another person”

So let me get this straight. You say that Mac has embarrassed the country, okay. But he is one of the same politicians that would lead the country into independence. and you want it?

So this is really what “foo foo” means…..wonder if he took advantage of free Cayman Airways flights and gov credit card again.

Let’s see how this will be dealt with. When Big Mac had his other fries we all held them guilty by association. Now in the interest of politics he is a part of the Unity Government with the PPM, birds of a feather.

err nice try but he is not a part of the PPM and is not a member of the Government. On the other hand if the “Independents” had all supported him as Premier well they and Cayman would have had a bigger problem…

Having said that, it sounds entirely plausible, taking place outside a casino….the last casino incident – which a jury determined was not criminal – should nonetheless have made him unelectable.

Thankfully less embarrassing for Cayman these days given the behaviour of the leader of the free world.

Diplomatic immunity only applies to accredited officials of a recognised country. As Cayman isn’t a member of the Vienna Convention – not sufe it can be as it is not a UN member – it doesn’t apply.

No, there is no gambling off the reservations in Florida. Want some cheap smokes or booze, go there. Crazy low prices cause no taxes, since the white man stole everything from them they get a pass on the tax laws. Nice gig if you can get it. I worked with a girl who was a tiny part Native American when I lived in the states, and she was whiter than the GOP, but got free tuition and sold smokes for a huge profit.
