(CNS): Two local men who set off on a fishing trip to 60 Mile Bank more than one week ago failed to return home on the expected date, police said this weekend. Chadwick Bodden (39) and Edward Henricks-Hydes (38), a.k.a. Edward Rivers, set off on the trip on Friday 23 June and have not been seen since. They were expected back on Wednesday, 28 June, and their failure to return was reported to the authorities on Friday, 30 June.

The men went to sea in a 30ft canoe equipped with a 60HP Endura outboard motor. The vessel is blue with the underside painted black.

The police have conducted extensive inquiries locally and overseas, which are continuing. The investigation is being conducted by the George Town Police Station CID.

This truly saddens my heart, my heart goes out to Edwards young wife and two kids who are now stuck overseas and can’t be here to be comforted in their greatest moment of despair. I cannot begin to imagine what they must be going thru. I pray that their families be comforted knowing that our God has done miracles over and over again and I have faith that our God will do it again. So, their testimony may live and inspire others. God be with them and bring them home safe.

This is exactly why we need to do away with forcing people who frequent the offshore banks to clear with immigration. A rotation number should be all that is needed the same way rotation numbers are used to visit the sister islands by boat.

No one bothers to clear, so for the safety of our fishermen implement the rotation number system for the offshore banks!

I’m not sure that telling the authorities would have been top of their agenda though.
I hope they are found safe and well.

This is so bold. “30ft canoe equipped with a 60HP Endura outboard motor” to 60 miles banks???? For 5 days of fishing? Nope.
You’d think they would take better precautions and just in case safety measures.
Do those boats have any cover?

Chadwick is dark skinned. Who is responsible for giving the authorities and the media this description? Chadwick may be mixed race but he looks like a black man and is dark skinned.

There two been besties since school days, I hope they are found safe. I know there are a lot of negative assumptions that could be made but they still are people. Boy Chad and Eddie poo-poo hope you are both okay, but at the very least you are together.

Of course its a blue canoe. Why would be any other colour that rescue services can actually see? And not reported missing for how long? This does not add up – yet again/

Since when does it take 5 days to undertake a fishing trip to 60 mile bank? In addition, at half throttle, that engine would consume 3 gallons an hour. It seems they would need at least 300 gallons of fuel just for the trip, and a hell of a lot of ice to keep their catch cold for that long.

I wish them a safe return.
