Hurricane Matthew 8am Monday 3 October 2016

(CNS): At 8am Monday morning Hurricane Matthew was heading north at around 6mph and is expected to approach Jamaica and southwestern Haiti later tonight. The storm is now expected to pass more than 330 miles to the east of the Sister Islands, but local weather officials urged residents to continue monitoring the dangerous storm. Packing winds of over 130mph, Matthew remains a category 4 hurricane.

The National Hurricane Center in Miami said there would be fluctuations in intensity over the next couple of days. Tropical storm conditions could begin impacting Jamaica today and more than 15 inches of rain may fall as the storm passes between that island and Haiti as it heads towards eastern Cuba.
