Driver killed in Smith Road crash

(CNS): Michael Eden (28) from George Town was killed in the early hours of Sunday morning in a single vehicle crash on Smith Road. Police said that Eden was driving a Silver Mazada Roadster at around 4am Sunday when it veered off the road into a chain link fence surrounding a yard near to the junction of Anthony Drive and Melrose Lane. Police and emergency services arrived at the scene a few minutes after the collision and Eden, who was the only person in the car, was taken to hospital. He was pronounced dead at 4:47am.

Eden is the sixth person to be killed on Cayman’s roads this year.

The crash is now under investigation by the traffic department and anyone with information regarding the accident is urged to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222 or to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS) or online here.
