Tropical Storm Matthew, 5-day forecast

(CNS): According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Tropical Storm Matthew could pass Cayman Brac and Little Cayman by Monday and residents are being asked to pay close attention to the system and weather alerts by the local weather service. The storm, which was moving into the Caribbean Sea Wednesday evening at around 18mph, is now expected to become a hurricane by Friday. Already packing winds of more than 60mph, Matthew is currently travelling westward and was predicted to pass across the Windward Islands this evening.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles to the northeast of the centre and tropical storm conditions were impacting the Leeward Islands when the NHC evening advisory was issued.

The Cayman Islands Weather Service is urging residents to monitor the weather bulletins as TS Matthew’s forecast path poses a threat to the Cayman area by Monday and there is potential for further development.

In the meantime, the forecast for Thursday was for more hot weather with temperatures in the 90s and a heat index of 105°F.

Just keep on watching the NHC forecast and make preparations, stock up on food, water, batteries etc…this morning the outside track (and it is outside) will take it at its worst near to the Brac, however it is a moving feast…

Wow I remember the same forecast for Ivan, it was supposed to go over the Brac and ended up rocking my world here in Grand Cayman…..

Pray we are impacted by a major hurricane with that those Senior Civil Servants in positions now. Let’s remember that ALL the old soldiers are gone leaving behind the inexperience. Kirkland, Donnie and their strong team is no longer around. As a Civil Servant I fear what will happen to us based on the poor leadership I see on a regular basis now. Please pray like you have never prayed before! Cayman Brac & Little Cayman will be okay with Ernie Scott still in the saddle. So that’s not my worry!

CORRECTION: Intended to say that we should “Pray we are not impacted by a major hurricane with those Senior Civil Servants in positions now. So CB is not my worry!”

Kirkland and Donnie please!!!!! Strong team Hahahahaha dont make me laugh? They did diddley Squat, looters had this place governor was crying others were hiding from the public. If Derek Haines didn’t grab control of law enforcement from the man in charge some of us wouldn’t be here. saw a number of civil servants including poiliticians lock down in their Compounds hoarding supplies & fuel and stealing others generators sent to them by overseas relatives and friends. Yes thats strong leadership!

    Assume the position!

That means Julianna will be again calling up all Brackers, even if they don’t live there, asking them how much they need to fix up their houses, just like after Paloma. Houses that were wrecks long before Paloma got fixed up at taxpayer expense. It’s the Brac, after all.

You hardly ever see her on the Brac, but if the Queen of Watering Place had her way everyone of her supporters would have a brand new concrete house – heck she probably would even give them one of the affordable house lots in Watering Place!!!

If there is government money to be wasted you can trust that the Queen of Watering Place will find ways to waste it.

P.S. Her sister Church in Spot Bay needs a new roof,

  8. Annie says:

Did not know about this storm until today, it just kind of snuck up on us. Hope Sisters will be okay.

They will be just fine. It is GCM that we have to be concern about because unlike the BRAC there is no one to lead the country administratively. Remember that two of our Emergency Services have new English Heads and the Prison. This is really scary.
