East End man arrested over violent assault

(CNS): A 22-year-old man from East End has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a serious and violent assault on a man, who underwent brain surgery and is currently in a coma as a result of severe head injuries sustained in the attack at the weekend. The 50-year-old victim was found unconscious by a police officer in the road near to the Pirates Cove bar in East End just after 1am on Saturday morning, 20 August. Police arrested the suspect, who remains in custody, on Wednesday.
