(CNS): It took the jury more than five hours to return a unanimous guilty verdict, Thursday, against all three men charged with an armed holdup at Blackbeard’s liquor store just before Christmas last year. Andrew Lopes, Bron Webb and Randy Connor were found guilty on two counts of robbery at the Grand Harbour store on 17 December and one count of possession of an unlicensed firearm in connection with the gold spray-painted pump-action shotgun used in the heist. The men remained impassive as the verdict was delivered as seven prison officers guarded the three men in the dock.

Devon Wright, the fourth man in the heist who pleaded guilty to the crime earlier this year, was brought up from custody in the wake of the verdicts to set a timetable for the sentencing of all four men.

Lopez, Webb and Connor are all facing a ten year minimum sentence, while Wright will be looking at a minimum of seven years, having entered a guilty plea shortly after being charged. The men were remanded in custody until sentencing, which is expected to take place next month.

Well as I see it, this will be a 4% drop in crimes for the next 7 years , but we still have 96% more to deal with. Keep up the good work police, jury’s, and courts, and judges. Maybe we will be a 100% crime free soon.

Who in all honesty was going to believe that defense that they presented? These Wanksters have to be the some of the stupidiest criminals ever. But they can kill and get away with murder.

Cayman Wanksters truly wouldn’t survive in the real world, take them to any inner city, and let the real hood n!&&@$ take care of them, there’s no wealthy Mom’s in denial to help em out.

So, the “real” robbers stole the punk’s mother’s car, drove it to the store, committed the strong arm robbery, drove back to the house the car had been stolen from, deposited the swag, left the car where they had nicked it, and fled. Sounds entirely reasonable, and a strong grounds for a robust appeal in my humble opinion.

Let’s all hope that this is the start of things to come and there are many more guilty verdicts to come for those that truly deserve it like these punks. You commit the crime, you do the time. And for those of you that have lost your dealer, remember his, they were judged by a jury of their peers and hey we’re all found guilty!!! ? And I have a cure for the selfies, we should take as much pictures of them crying once they leave the court house and if a selfie is found, those pics of them that were taken get posted for all to see as well.

Thank the good Lord! If we had one more not guilty for red handed thieves I would crap my britches.

I suppose by Christmas we will have seen selfies from all of them at Northward. We need to hit them where it hurts, and by that I mean go after the same thing they went to get from the liquour store, MONEY!

Did it not come out in the trial that Lopez went and traded his Mercedes Benz for his mother’s car? How was he employed to be able to afford a Benz when it seems like all he did was hang out with a bunch of weed heads? Take the car, both cars, until they can prove that they were not purchased with the proceeds of crime.

Maybe that’s why his gun is gold. Please stop SHOUTING.

    • Cass says:

Mam, you bought a Benz for your son? What did he do to deserve such a luxury? Please don’t take offence but this is exactly part of the problem. You buy him a Benz, you claim he’s rich; yet he is out there stealing! DO YOU see the problem with that picture?

    • Knot S Smart says:

Your post shows exactly the root causes of what is wrong with this society!

    • Just Sayin' says:

I always thought it was more often the fathers that were anonymous around here.

    • Anonymous says:

Then maybe you should sell that Benz, and buy him a conscience! How do you think the lady who had her purse snatched felt with a gold shotgun being held up to her? Teach your son right from wrong ma’am, and all of your other children, then maybe you wouldn’t be in this mess in the first place!

I like your defense, that’s worthy of a QC. It reminds me of the Irishman taken to court for stealing chickens and on the stand he says to the judge: “You have a witness who saw me enter the chicken coop, but did anyone see me leave? Then I rest my case, I must still be in the chicken coop.”

      • Anonymous says:

Nope, I own everything I have with clean and honestly earned money, thank you very much. I don’t steal. I work for what I have. I don’t beg from nor depend on family/friends either. I earn what’s mine, outright. So nope again, no issues with a Benz that’s been paid for with stolen cash….And nope I didn’t see him….but the CCTV sure did, as well as it clearly saw the car exchange between you and your son! LOL!!!

I think you should quit talking while you are ahead. Your son is no saint, everyone in Cayman knows that, and I bet you do too. Look at his face tattoos and what they mean. Look in the mirror and ask yourself if you did all you could as a Mum to raise him the right way. Or simply Google “Andrew Lopez Cayman” read what pops up and you do the math. You (and his Dad) have failed him, and you continue to do so by swearing out right that he did nothing wrong when he clearly did. Thank God for CCTV!

    • Anonymous says:

As you claim that he has title to the Benz presumably it is an asset available to compensate the victims of his crime?

    • Anonymous says:

Maybe you should contact CNS and explain why he is rich. Also explain at the same time why he is but you’re not.

    • Anonymous says:

You better save that money for cigarettes, phone cards, and gas!

Give them life imprisonment or at least 20 years to think about the wrongs they have done to our society.

These thugs are giving law abiding and hard working Caymanians and residents alike; a bad name.

  19. Gangsta Jr. says:

    Word.

  20. Anonymous says:

Perfect verdict. Let them that steal, steal no more.

  21. Golden Days says:

Good. Tired of these wretches ruining what should be the jewel of the Caribbean. Lock them all up until they are old men.
