Driver thrown from car in late night crash
(CNS): A 51-year-old man is in the critical care unit at the hospital with broken bones and other injuries after a crash on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway late Friday night. Police who arrived at the scene at around 11:05pm found the man unconscious and lying in the road with injuries to his forehead. Debris was spread across the entire road. Police said the man was driving a Mazda Premacy along the highway towards George Town when he lost control of the vehicle near to the Lakeside apartments.
He collided with a CUC pole, removing it from its base. The car then flipped on impact and came to rest on the opposite side of the road.
No other cars appear to have been involved and the driver, who was in the car alone, received medical treatment and was taken to George Town hospital by ambulance. By Saturday morning police said he was conscious and recovering from his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
Any witnesses to the accident are asked to contact the George Town police station on 949 4222.

Why is it that people can’t seem to “lose control” and run off the road without hitting the poles? The distance between them is somewhere around 90-100 feet! Pretty soon ALL the poles on that stretch of road will have been replaced, and some of them multiple times! SMHIA

Why no pictures?
CNS: We don’t have any.
No one drives at 40mph my friend. (Stays within the limits in the designated areas).
No he was not speeding!
The important thing seems to me to be that he was driving in the lane reserved for light poles.
And I’m sure he wasn’t doing 40mph. Thankfully, there were no other vehicles involved.
