(CNS): Commuters to the eastern districts were held up in a long tail-back Wednesday evening after a major road crash at around 5:30pm, which involved two cars and a truck, with one vehicle catching fire. Emergency crews responded to the collision on Shamrock Road at the junction of Buddy’s Way in Bodden Town, which caused a disruption to traffic in both directions for about two hours, police said.

An RCIPS spokesperson explained that a Honda Accord as well as a Honda Sabre and a Freightliner truck were involved in the smash and the Honda Sabre caught fire. The fire was extinguished by bystanders using a fire extinguisher, the police stated.  The east and west bound lanes were diverted through the East/West Arterial Highway while emergency crews made the scene safe and removed the wrecked vehicles blocking the roadway. No serious injuries were reported.
