Private college boasts 93% job placement rate

(CNS): The ICCI achieved an overall job placement rate for its 220 plus graduates last year of 93 per cent, according to a report from its accrediting body. In its post graduate MSc Management and MBA course, as well as its BSc in Liberal Studies and BA in Human and Social Services, the college chalked up a 100 per cent placement rate.

“We are very proud of these outcomes. This achievement is really a testament to our talented faculty and staff who work with our students to make them job ready,” Dr David Marshall, the ICCI’s president said in the wake of the report results.

The College’s international accrediting agency, The Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools requires its credited institutions to achieve a minimum placement rate of 65 per cent each year.

The accreditor also measures retention rates for academic course and the overall rate was 76%, although one course, the AS in General Studies, fell below the required level of 65 per cent.

Marshall said the college had some work to do on that course to make sure more students actually earn the degree but he pointed to the difficulties the students at ICCI face.

“It is tough for many of our students to earn a degree as most of them work full-time and have families. Some students are also struggling to pay for college,” he said. “It is heartbreaking when a student drops out of ICCI because of the inability to pay tuition. This is why we are aggressively out asking the business community to support scholarships,” Marshall added.

ACICS requires accredited institutions to report annually achievements in retention, placement and licensure pass rates in the CAR. The reporting year was from 1 July 2013 to 30 June 2014. Institutions submit the CAR to ACICS each November. ACICS then reviews the CAR, verifies the data, and issues the CAR report.
