RCIPS warns WhatsApp users of take-over scam
(CNS): The police and the Cayman Islands Government Information Security Office are warning WhatsApp users of a scam that enables the perpetrators to take over the victim’s account. The scammer can then send messages to any of their contacts, purporting to be the victim, until the account can be recovered.
CINICO moves into property insurance
(CNS): The government-owned Cayman Islands National Insurance Company, which in March announced that it had extended its offerings to include motor insurance, has now moved into the home insurance business. CINICO is offering parametric insurance to homeowners, either as part of its basic package or as a separate policy.
Bogus CAL email is phishing scam
(CNS): Cayman Airways Ltd says the airline has received reports of a phishing email being sent to customers claiming that their “account” has been “temporarily suspended”. CAL stated that this email was not sent by Cayman Airways, and anyone receiving it should not click on any links nor provide any information to the senders.
