Female joggers sexually assaulted in GT

RCIPS logo(CNS): Police are investigating two separate indecent assaults on women who were out exercising last week on South Church Street in George Town. The sex crimes happened on Thursday morning around 7am and on Saturday morning at around 7:30am and in both cases the female victims were walking or running alone when the suspect emerged from the bushes. The man was said to have run up behind the women and grabbed them before running off again.

One assault occurred near Dart Park, with the man running off in the direction of Clayton Drive, while the other occurred near the junction of Denham Thompson Way, with the man running off down that street. Neither of the women were physically injured during the assault and in both incidents the assailant, who may or may not be the same man in both incidents, was described as being “somewhat tall and having a dark complexion”.

The suspect during Thursday’s assault was wearing a black beanie hat and a dark short-sleeved shirt. On Saturday the offender was described by his victim as slim and clean shaven, wearing camouflage pants and a dark-colored short-sleeved t-shirt, with shoulder-length braided hair.

These latest two assaults follow a report earlier this month of a woman in West Bay being sexually assaulted as she was running near the junction of Esterley Tibbetts Highway and Willie Farrington Drive. That incident took place around 7am on 17 January and the assailant was also said to have run up behind the woman and grabbed her before he made his escape. He was described as being about 5’6” or taller, in his early 20’s with medium brown complexion, and wearing all black.

Police have suggested that women exercise with a second person whenever possible.

Anyone with information regarding the latest two incidents is encouraged to call George Town CID at 949-4222 or the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477 (TIPS).

Being proactive is alien to our RCIPS..(S= service!!!??)..Can’t the police send out some police on bicycles in the early mornings to patrol the popular jogging trails/roadpaths?

I thought that community policing was part of their mandate….guess not!!

Empty a bottle of 16 Million Scoville Bear Repellant pepper spray in their face

There is nothing stopping you from making your own pepper spray. Just boil some vinegar, salt an some hell pepper sauce and put into a spray bottle and voila! It won’t be aerosol propelled but you can try to get a good squirt in his face. Or Try a can of bagon on the twerp.

Cops here are a joke. A neighbour of mine was assaulted and myself and my husband witnessed it and made a statement. It was even caught on video and they still have not arrested and charged the woman ! Disgusting, and it was even reported to Baines!!! They won’t do anything in these cases either. We are on our own folks!

Actually there has been 3 assaults and the police couldn’t be bothered to go interview the last victim who called and reported the crime, the police is a joke get your act together stop collecting an easy paycheck or we vigilantes will do your work for you!

Thousands of runners were routed through the same areas on Sunday and not a single police officer for miles. They didn’t even bother to stop or warn traffic that a race was underway.

Same happened with the Miss Cayman event. Some brain spark put a road closure barrier up IN the Grand Harbor roundabout, diverting traffic onto South Sound. But cars didn’t see this until they had already entered the roundabout so guess what?!?! One big cluster ()*)$ of two lanes coming off the roundabout trying to merge into the access lane towards South Sound.

When will there be a female police officer posing as a jogger??? Too much wishful thinking I guess……….

If my dog bites him while I’m jogging and he gets sent to the hospital, I will fight against my dog needing to be put down.

If & when they catch this fella…they should cut off his dingle-berries.

    Problem solved.

Thursday morning and we are just finding out about this now? Was RCIPS waiting for someone to get raped before sending out a press release!?

  11. Anonymous says:

Yet again, the onus is put on women to prevent the crime, in this case by exercising with someone else. If we said that to a man, what do you think his reaction would be? How about finding the idiot who is doing this. Where are the police?

    • Mike Bolsa says:

Oh come on. This is serious overreaction. You know our police have more important things to do, like making sure you are not on your phone, your seatbelt is on and your underpants are clean.
Under David Baines, the RCIPS has become the most vaunted force in the region. We should be grateful that we have such leadership. Stop moaning and embrace the new order.
