Verdant Isle registered in GC not Brac
(CNS): Verdant Isle, the bidder selected to take on the controversial cruise port project, is registered in Grand Cayman and not Cayman Brac, as had been believed. Following media enquiries about the registration of the new company and why it was based on the Brac, officials said during their visit last week they did not know. However, in a short statement Tuesday Verdant Isle said it had been confused with another company with a similar name.
Speaking to CNS last week, several of the representatives of the consortium making up the new company all said that their lawyers had registered the company and they had no answer as to why it had been done on the Brac but they would endeavour to find out and let the people know.
In a short statement on Tuesday, a spokesperson said that they had learned that Verdant Isle Port Partners Ltd, which is the official name of the consortium company, was never registered on the Brac.
They stated that it “was incorporated in the Cayman Islands on 27 August” through Conyers Corporate Services on Grand Cayman. The company on the Brac is Verdant Isle Holdings Limited, which was incorporated on 30 May and has a registered office recorded in Cayman Brac by an unnamed party. “There is no connection between the two companies,” the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, the information and documents about the proposed cruise project, including the designs, which Verdant Isle said last week would be released into the public domain soon, have still not appeared and the new website, where the information is expected to be posted, remains under construction as of Tuesday.

Doesn’t really matter does it. Some people were just hoping it tied into Moses somehow. Next case!
“There is no connection between the two companies,” the spokesperson added.
Riiiight. Verdant Isle Port Partners, and Verdant Isle Holdings Limited should forthwith not be confused with each other. It’s all just a quaint coincidence reflecting a phrase from our National Song.
Okeydokeyfinethen.
Things that make you go hmmm…sounds like the two are relatives to me….both incorporated this year..what a strange coincidence
I’m coming, coming very soon, oh beauteous isles to thee.
5.05pm Well sung!.
Verdant…jeez implying all things green, just like British Petroleum or Exxon, when they are precisely the opposite. Pointless project the whole damn thing.
At the current rate of development we won’t be verdant much longer, and what there is now, is swamp.
Well jeez. Who knows what to believe anymore, huh? Great when you get to blame the technicalities on your workers…
Unacceptable excuse.
Huh?
Look forward to reviewing all of the bid docs, not just the winning bidder’s. What are the amounts of the bid and decommissioning bonds and method of security posted, hinged to the winning tender bid? Has Verdant Isle Port Partners Ltd been funded with any capital, ie. does capital commitment currently extend any further than the immediate Conners retainer and provisional operational expenses? What are the respective capital contribution proportions for each equity partner, and what are those terms and deadlines for that capitalization? What detail is buried in the force majeure clause? What percentage of revenue is allocated to CSR budget for the company, and what in what areas, and detail in particular? Is there a dredge maintenance plan, provision for ongoing environmental assessment, conforming to what standard, and name of reviewing agency? Tugs, harbour masters, training program? Are there obligations and deadlines on the CIG that they are willing to/or planning to fail on – what are those? So many questions just in respect of the redacted bid docs…observers and students of recent CIG bid settlements and contracts should be very very skeptical.
Either way it’s still set in blue Caribbean Sea.
Odd coincidence?
Bit like the unfounded attack on Larry Covington in 2015? Sadly, it’s crap like this that undermines the real arguments.
One of which is what is going to happen while this dock is being built? The work is pretty much going to shut GT down isn’t it? So for maybe two years arriving cruise visitors will land at Spotts and go into a town that’s just one big construction site – not exactly an ideal introduction to the island.
Behind all the arguments I can see a basic lack of joined up thinking here. But that’s not exactly new is it?
Not really. Plenty of companies with similar, if not basically the same, names. Just look at Island Company vs Island Companies.
And Verdant Isle isn’t exactly the most creative name.
