Local man admits nail salon stick-up

(CNS):  A 38-year-old man from George Town has pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of an imitation firearm in connection with a hold-up at a nail salon in July. Paul Myles admitted the crimes during a mention in the Grand Court last week just before police charged the former secretary to the capital’s Coalition for Cayman MLAs, Christine Rae-Smith, with the same crime. Myles was remanded in custody ahead of Rae-Smith’s appearance.

The robbery took place at a salon on Godfrey Nixon Way in George Town and Myles admitted taking $700 from three women as well as taking cell phones and a watch during the armed stick-up, which happened at around 10pm on a Friday evening. According to the crown’s case, Myles had robbed the salon because it owed his girlfriend, Rae-Smith, cash.

Myles has been remanded in custody while Rae-Smith has been bailed to appear in Grand Court to answer the charges against her on 30 October.
