ICTA to set rules of local TV content
(CNS Business Video): The Information and Communications Technology Authority (ICTA) is changing the framework of licence obligations for cable TV and redefining what “local content” means for broadcast carriers in the Cayman Islands. The television regulators told CNS Business they are also looking into creating a universal service fund to collect fees from cable companies to help pay for the production of public service broadcasting in the area.
ICTA Managing Director Alee Fa’amoe explained that the authority is in the early stages of developing guidelines and trying to provide a greater degree of clarity on what future licensing requirements will be for Cayman television networks.

I have no interest in “local content”. I have far less interest in paying for it.
Unfortunately the lousy cable companies will only pass down any fees to customers and for what, Channels in Spanish? We are being ripped off big time!
With traditional television being to wane I would like to see this content produced and delivered in more ways then just the traditional cable method.
Great news, now can we have someone ensure the jewelry stores stock locally made watches please. And that restaurants carry locally made wine. Perhaps some locally milled lumber, small appliances, and furniture in the homewares stores.
All would be as easy and as costly to produce as a required amount of local television content.
Ehh, hardly. CNS is doing a pretty good job producing local video content!
Billing everyone for something hardly anyone wants. What a great plan.
Yes, four minutes once or twice a week.
You really don’t get out much do you?
Maybe if more people didn’t read your post Cayman can move ahead.
