Cayman remains on watch over approaching storm
(CNS): A tropical wave currently passing over Jamaica (Tuesday morning) is expected to pass close to Cayman later today, as the islands remain under a tropical storm watch. Local forecasters said the system was moving at about 20mph and they expected it to be upgraded to a tropical storm by the time it reaches our area. Heavy rain and strong winds, which could peak at tropical storm force strength, can be expected from later today and into this evening, mainly across Grand Cayman.
The weather impacts on the Sister Islands will be just slightly less than that expected over Grand Cayman but all residents are urged to remain attentive to the weather bulletins.
Current models indicate that most of the rain will pass to the south of Grand Cayman with 1 inch of rainfall expected.
Moderate to strong east to southeasterly winds and rough seas with wave heights of 4 to 6 feet are expected this morning, becoming very strong with wave heights increasing to 7 to 9 feet by this evening. All marine interests should seek safe harbour and remain there until further notice.

……. or Al Gore. 😀
Don’t blame the local weather service they get their info from the NHC in Miami. The local NBC station (Miami) stated at 7.00am this morning that the storm was “headed for the Caymn Islands”.
and the local weather service said it from Friday evening July 29th. Please tell NBC dont be so slow.
