(CNS): Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman has launched the new Jobs & Online Payment Services portal to replace JobsCayman. In a release on Friday, WORC says the new portal is more efficient and easier to navigate than the old site, which was heavily criticised. Caymanian job seekers are now able to select and track job posts they want to apply for, and applying for more than one job at a time can be done with the new ‘quick apply’ feature.

WORC said the sign-up process has been optimised to be quick and straightforward for both employers and Caymanian job seekers. Employers can now more efficiently manage job postings and applicants, while those with multiple businesses under one company will benefit from a simplified and streamlined process.

WORC Director Jeremy Scott said, “We are pleased to finally launch the new portal, which we hope job seekers and employers will find easier to use, creating an overall better online experience. We had some challenges but worked through them to be able to launch a product we are proud of. We are committed to improving our technology so that we can provide greater customer service to our valued customers.”

The payment section of the portal has been enhanced to provide a more user-friendly experience, featuring an improved method for executing group transactions. The system is now capable of processing these transactions individually, WORC said.

Caymanian job seekers or employers wanting to register to use the portal should visit worc.ky or contact Customer Care at 945-9672 or email WORCServices@gov.ky with any questions.

I just can’t believe they chose a crotch shot as their main picture. It looks like an upshot of a woman’s skirt. It is such poor taste and absolutely baffling (or not)

I admit this is focusing on minutiae, however I really don’t care for how the new WORC portal banner shows a person with trousers that make (her?) look like their legs are bare. Pretty poor form, imo.

You think that color matches their skin tone, which is clearly visible on their hands? You sound petty and foolish.

Well, skippy, we can’t see her hands. I just think it is a tacky photo, out of all those they could have chosen.

Their hands are literally in the image, placed on their lap. Perhaps you should have your eyes checked.

(You can downvote this, but it doesn’t make it wrong. It just indicates you might be “a bit touched and/or highly regarded” alongside being blind.)

True. It’s such a weird stock image to settle on, from all the possibilities in the catalogues.

After reviewing 1000’s of possible workplace stock images, someone said, “let’s go with the #groinshot”.

58 pages of unsorted red flag job clippings…experienced farmers wanted to work for $1000 a month? Why aren’t these also police enquiries? What vetting is done by Worc to even read these ads before posting them?

Given you have to have status to be a Caymanian, why does it ask applicants if the are Caymanian or have Cayman Status?

What relevance does uploading a BOTC Passport have for proving that an applicant is a Caymanian? Having a “Cayman Passport” does not make you a Caymanian.

Agree. You also be a Caymanian and not hold a CI passport.

These ignorant questions from our civil service infuriates me. One class of Caymanian. You are or you are not. Drop that status rubbish. There is only one proof of being Caymanian and that’s not a passport. Drop the passport question & ask for an upload of the grant confirmation document/certificate.
World class civil service? This ‘new’ system has the same old stupid mistakes.

Because now no one calls up saying ‘I’m Caymanian but I don’t have status where’s my box to tick?’

And with the CI Passport then they can check your ‘status’, etc., in the system.

Keeps the system practical and simple.

Explain how they can check your Caymanian status if you give them your Cayman passport details. The Cayman (BOTC) passport is issued by the UK government, and in issuing it they don’t track or record your status (and given you can qualify for it after only 9 years of residence versus 15 for status, that’s not a surprise). Now Immigration no doubt have your details of your Cayman passport in their files if you have status, all they need to check status is your name and date of birth. Thats all they ask for when you ring them, so why does the website require it?

Ci Status Stamp, if you have one. Me thinks not.

          • Anonymous says:

Having a Cayman Passport is IRRELEVANT to the question of whether you are Caymanian. That is a fact, and one those responsible for enforcing our law REFUSE to consistently abide by.

The consequence includes hundreds of non Caymanians gaining benefits they are not lawfully entitled to, and hundreds of other Caymanians being deprived benefits and opportunity. You literally could not make this situation up. It is criminal.

Its a #shitshow and has been for years. The levels of maladministration required for it to be this bad for this long appear beyond measure.
