(CNS): Royal Cayman Islands Police Service officers were still on the scene of what appears to be an active drug bust in Breakers Monday lunchtime after a suspicious vessel was spotted in the area at around 6:45 this morning. As a crowd gathered at the scene, the police urged people to stay away so that they can continue their work, having already seized a black boat that was recovered from the water and arrested three men on suspicion of illegal landing. The matter is still under investigation and involves several specialist units, including K-9 and the Air Operations Unit.

There is no indication yet if police have recovered any of the drugs or other contraband, which is understood to have been spotted in the ocean. A spokesperson for the RCIPS said further information about the incident will be released once more details have been confirmed.

The bust comes just a few days after police recovered over 400lbs of ganja after a pursuit of a speeding car in George Town.

Breakers is such a peaceful community, this is so horrible, especially for this to be in the vicinity of the Church.

Where is the Bodden Town MLA , who is responsible for the Breakers community? what
is he going to do to ensure the elderly people are protected.

Maybe push the LA to follow USA and Canada’s legalize, regulate and tax example so we stop ruining people’s lives over a medical plant that can grow in your backyard.

it will also remove the HUGE black market demand for cannabis so that old people like you don’t get frighten when a boat shows up to fulfil that demand.

That’s a pretty broad statement! What you have to remember 5:28 is that in every country near or far there are always good and bad. While it is unfortunate that majority of the drug boats come from there you should ask yourself who is buying the drugs? It is our very own local boys. You should not paint everyone from Jamaica with the same brush. It seems as if your prejudice narrow minded way of thinking has the better of you!

Like the Colombian President told President Bush, “we couldn’t sell it, if you didn’t have the buyers.”

Local boys? What a joke 8:34 . You dont think jamaicans smoke weed in cayman? 15000+ jamaicans are living here. I am sure 75% of them smoke weed including your pastor the ( jamaican jesus).
Also there is more jamaican dealers than caymanians.
Jamaican dealers work for Jamaican police officers here in cayman. The most corrupt police in the Caribbean is jamaicans but cayman goverment take them for god and turn the back on their own people.

Well we don’t know the nationality of the men detained or the backstory to this drop off to be fair, but the rest of your comment is spot on. Whether the nationality singled out likes it or not.

First off, who said the 3 arrested were Jamaicans? Secondly, regardless of who is trafficking the drugs, they do so because Cayman’s population is demanding it – basic economics at play not rocket science.

Cayman’s population of… you guessed it, Jamaicans, are many of those demanding the supply. This is as much a lax immigration issue, as it is undefended coastlines.

Well done to the RCIP on this one.

I bet someone high up doesn’t want the Jamaican grown marijuana on our streets anymore, they prefer the more expensive hydro grown weed coming from America. Yes, I smell an evil agenda here.
