Acting Inspector Kevin Bogle

(CNS): Acting Police Inspector Kevin Bogle has been appointed the next area commander for the Sister Islands for a two-year rotation. Succeeding Inspector Andre Tahal, who has returned to Grand Cayman, Bogle said that one of his priorities will be to increase the police presence on both islands, with a special focus on schools. He also aims to address anti-social behaviour, including the use and sale of drugs and speeding, as well as other traffic violations in school zones and residential areas. Bogle has arrived on the Brac after working in the Community Policing Department, where he was the sergeant in charge of George Town.

While heading up the most populated community beats on the islands, Bogle demonstrated his ability to manage competing priorities while building strong relationships with the public that are crucial to the safety of the community as a whole, the RCIPS said in a release about his two-year appointment.

“The Senior Command Team felt that A/Insp. Bogle’s range of experience and proven abilities suited him to the important post of Sister Islands’ area commander,” the RCIPS stated.

Among colleagues, Bogle is known for his ‘no nonsense’ approach to policing.

“I am firm in the enforcement of the law, but at the same time, I strive to be sensitive to the traditions and customs of a small community,” he said. “Communication is the key to a successful relationship with the public, and I am eager to build partnerships with all groups on the Sister Islands. The safety of the public and the fight against crime is everybody’s business, therefore it is my goal to get to know everyone on the islands as much as possible.”

Bogle, who has 22 years policing experience and more than twelve with the RCIPS, has plans to conduct a thorough assessment of policing coverage and performance, and will be examining the current shift schedule in order to ensure better police availability.

A/Insp. Bogle is reaching out to residents and business owners to meet them on an individual basis and understand their concerns and priorities.

Anyone who would like to contact or meet A/Insp. Bogle is invited to call the Cayman Brac Police Station at 948-0331.

Just as in Grand Cayman, woefully outmanned and outgunned by the well-established and financed bad guys. Flourishing illicit transshipment economies are the traditions and customs cherished most these days.

Apparently there is a lot wrong with Cayman Brac policing that he needs to fix. He’d be better advised having a look first.

Thus the reason the Sgt. is “Acting” Inspector. Not that it matters. He appears very qualified for this post. The only sad thing is that for the Sister Islands, once an Inspector gets acclimated, they are soon gone. Frank, Wendy, Andre and now Kevin.

The Sister Islands need an Inspector that is immersed in the people, and knows the patterns of the local criminals. Bring back Frank or Andre. Both were – imo – just on the cusp of breaking open the whole drug trade here.

First of all WELCOME. But GOOD LUCK also trying to police the Brac. The ones at the top cover up all sorts of things and he will have many roadblocks to overcome. He will be glad at the end of his 2 years to leave.

Welcome to the fray, A/Insp. Bogle. Your experience sounds to make you perfectly suited for the Sister Islands, particularly the Brac. The Brac is changing far too quickly for some of the citizens, and while not nearly the level of crime that is reported in Grand Cayman, it is far from the peaceful, sleepy island it once was; less safe than it once was.

    Again, welcome Sir.

Welcome to Cayman Brac/Little Cayman Inspector Bogle,

Add on to your list drinking liquor in public parks, drinking liquor in/around package (liquor) store/grocery store parking lots/bank, people riding in the back of vehicles (especially government).
You will quickly note who our small time drug peddlers are, but not much is ever done about them – especially in Little Cayman.

Glad to hear that you are going to crack down on the speeders, but don’t just limit it to the school zones – need more street patrol in wee hours of night on Cayman Brac.

If you do your job and do it well, the powers to be will probably complain and your tour of duty will be cut short – seen it time and time again.
    Wish you all the best.
