Is practising obeah against the law in Cayman?

(CNS Local Life): I’ve heard it’s illegal to practise obeah here. Is that true? That seems to go against the Bill of Rights, which guarantee freedom of religion.

    Most religions are nasty…they seek to control the people that are part of them… Those people stop thinking for themselves and just follow the doctrines of that church because it is easier than thinking. Even more find a way not to follow the better doctrines during the weak, so that they can be forgiven for their sins on Sundays.

    While we have many archaic laws still on the books, I, for one, support the illegality of the practice of Obeah. It is NOT a religion and its practice should not be protected.

    Back in 1980 it was illegal to practice Obeah in the Cayman Islands. Not sure if that Law has changed now.
