Motorbike stolen from the Marquee Plaza on 8th December 2016

(CNS): Police officers are searching for a stolen motorbike that was taken from the Marquee Plaza, George Town, on Thursday evening and are urging all owners to properly secure their bikes. The owner of the red and black Yamaha (pictured) parked the motorcycle behind Craft Restaurant off the West Bay Road at around 7:45pm but the bike had gone missing when he returned to where it was left at about 10pm. The registration number is 165-405. There is an Automotive Art sticker on the gas tank, and the tip of the left handle bar is missing.

Police said owners of motorbikes should not only lock their vehicles but secure them to a post or some other stationary object for added anti-theft protection.

Anyone with information about this theft is encouraged to call George Town CID at 949-4222.  Anonymous tips can be provided directly to the RCIPS via our Confidential Tip Line at 949-7777 or via the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS), or online here.

Like everything else on this island its taking a short one way trip to Jamaica! If we don’t drain this swamp we will soon have to follow suit. We are already being rapidly displaced as a people. Time to install a government not control by foreign nationals and their intrest.

Given the polices inability to secure the confiscated bikes they had in their own yard seems a bit off for them to lecture people on how to secure theirs.

This police advice is like telling women to wear longer skirts and buttoned up shirts so they don’t get raped. Now, I understand we live in a real world and these things happen, but not at the rate that they hapen in Cayman!

It is unacceptable! This is not a new issue, and yet time aftert time the police and all other involved govt institutions fail to find a solution!

    Enough is enough people!!

All stolen items are leaving this island one way or another. The focus must be on “HOW”? One experienced detective can figure this out. However, I truly believe that the crime is organized and involves corrupt officials responsible for controlling the borders, customs and immigration.
I predict that people will start leaving this “safest” country in the Caribbean.

Police! Do your freaking job and stop blaming the victims of crime! Lock it AND lock it to a post? Should I build a wall around it? Should there be razor wire on top, and a minefield surrounding it?

We are a small island with a small population. This is not rocket science.

If I see it should I report it? I guess not because you have confirmed you do not make arrests based on reports.

You have permitted criminality to take hold. You are responsible!

All under the watch of the do-nothing PPM.

6.63pm I’m afraid it is rocket science, we are talking about riders on two wheeled rockets almost reaching escape velocity on our roads.

    • Inspector Clouseau says:

Should the Police just sit and monitor ALL bikes???? They cant be everywhere at once!!! The thieves surely have the Police outnumbered big time so you stop casting the blame on them. Only an ignorant person would post such a thing.

      • Anonymous says:

Of course the thieves have the police outnumbered. The police for two generations have done little to curtail them. There are different rules for different sectors of the community. What is a little criminality between kin?

A sting operation to catch thieves would be easy.

        Will the police do anything?

        No.
