One car explodes and another lands in water
(CNS): Police say there were two major vehicle incidents on Saturday. In the morning a driver lost control of his car and drove into the sea in George Town, and in the evening a car exploded following a crash near Camana Bay. Just after 6:30am on 9 July police and the Cayman Islands Fire Service were called to Church Street, where a car had gone over the sea wall and landed in the ocean. Both men in the car were uninjured and the owner arranged for the car to be removed from the water.
Then on Saturday at around 9:30pm, police and fire fighters were on the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the Esterley Tibbetts Highway at the Camana Bay roundabout involving a silver Kia SUV. Police said the vehicle was on fire when they arrived but all three women who had been inside had already got out of the car.
Officers immediately moved them and onlookers away from the vehicle before it exploded, the RCIPS stated. A road block was then set-up to allow the fire service to tackle the blaze. The women were taken to the Cayman Islands Hospital for observation and later released.
There have been no details released about the cause of the crash and police are asking anyone with information to call the Traffic Management Unit at 649-6254.

I believe I can fly.
Perhaps the KIA owner should report the specific details of the damage to the KIA dealer. There may be an inherent safety issue with the vehicle which may need to be assessed.
I ACTUALLY SAW THAT SET on fire
If you mean you actually saw someone setting the car on fire, then you’re reporting it on the wrong forum. You need to be down at the Police Station.
Huh? You saw the car getting set on fire? This is one of those times you should probably expand your comment and possibly go to the police?
Seriously, how in the heck did they crash into the sea at Smith Cove? Isn’t there like 50 yards of beach before the sea!? Did they not at the point of passing the beach toilets and giant iguana consider they might have taken a wrong turn!!?
Where did it say Smith’s Cove? It was on North Church Street, south of Mr Arthur’s. I saw the fire trucks and a gaggle of people staring over the wall into the sea….I was wondering what had happened. Now I know.
It wasn’t anywhere near Smith Cove… nowhere in the article does it say that!
Not sure where you got Smith Cove from!
What, is this a new kind of diving excursion? Where can I sign up?
There will be plenty more accidents to report this week if those yellow shirted pests are allowed to continue to hold up morning traffic.
I completely agree, complete hold up on Crewe Road this morning. Couldn’t believe it when I saw what the cause of the delay was! How to p**s of the maximum number of people that you want voting for you in one go. What a genius!
Followed up later in the afternoon with a tasteless spam email. Wasn’t getting my vote before, today ensured my campaigning against.
I have plenty info on this, what’s your price?
I’ll give you a US dollar if you tell Sausage Lover how they got the car into Smiths Cove
The car that flew in the air and landed on water. That sounds like fun! Lets do it again! :))
