(CNS): Officials from CUC have confirmed that the loss of “some generation at the power plant” in the industrial area of George Town caused outages from West Bay to East End on Tuesday evening, which saw some customers without power for close to two hours. The electricity supply failure began around 7:12pm in some areas, and while customers began regaining power after 7:35pm, the power supplier said it was not until 8:43pm that all power was restored. Customers in East End, Bodden Town, George Town and West Bay were impacted by the latest outage.

Solar power. Get off the grid and there is no longer a need for this horrible service. The cayman island have sun most of the year why not? Canada uses hydro power. Why are we using expensive fossil fuels?

Um, in BT I have had two outages in the last 8 days – and we have far more outages across the island than CUC ever are prepared to admit to.

CUC, I’ve been a supportive customer of yours for decades. Yes I pay a lot but I always received good service – until recently. There’ve been quite a few power failures in my area in the last four to six months. One destroyed an appliance and you declined to replace it.

Come on now, replace the infrastructure or personnel you need to in order to continue delivering reliable service. Please DO NOT become like that telephone service provider which changes its name every few years in the hope that customers will forget its poor service!!

For what we pay, this is an outrage. This is what you get when you have a monopoly.

CUC please get your act together. This is happening far too often.
