GT rape suspect charged

Cayman News Service(CNS): Police have now charged the 35-year-old man who was arrested on Thursday with raping a woman in George Town last month. He is expected in summary court, this morning Monday 8 February). According to the RCIPS, on 23 January the female victim was taken to a remote area off Sparky Drive after accepting ride in a vehicle and raped.

She was left stranded at the location and eventually stopped a passerby for help. Officers from the George Town CID have been investigating the matter since the report, making every effort to identify, locate and arrest the offender, police said.

Yesterday, 4 February, a man from George Town was arrested and is currently in police custody.

The rape had not previously been reported to the media.
