Burglars cut power to steal from Brac booze shops
(CNS): Police on Cayman Brac are on the hunt for a gang of burglars who pulled out power meters to try to silence alarms before breaking into two liquor stores this weekend. A quantity of cash was stolen from both of the stores, police said. On Saturday, 6 February, at around 3:00am an alarm was activated at Brac Freeport (Mary Lou’s), Cross Rd, West End, after the burglars had forced open a side door and removed a meter on the side of the building.
Then on Sunday, 7 February, just before 12:30am, two masked culprits gained entry into Big Daddy’s liquor store on Gerrard Smith Avenue after removing an electricity meter at the rear of the building, disconnecting the power. A metal door was forced open and entry gained.
Since the burglaries were reported officers have been doing security checks of business premises on Cayman Brac. Business owners who would like a security check are invited to call the Cayman Brac Police Station at 948-0331.
Anonymous tips regarding these incidents can also be given by calling the Miami-based call centre of Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS).
They have electricity in the Brac?
Maybe if the police would stop running around the Brac today looking for a dog owner regarding their dog killing a chicken that was out of its cage and about running wild they would be able to solve these two crimes.
If the police didnt used to sleep all night like the firemen then there would be less robberies. the fire station is in darkness from 10pm and you never see a police car on the road..
If you’re referring to Cayman Brac, that is definately not true; I see the police truck patrolling quite frequently, and at least as late at night as I’m awake.
I don’t know if the Brac RCIP have regular routes for patrol, but if they do, I would suggest making those patrols more random.
I’ve seen a marked improvement with police involvement and interaction with the public since Inspector Parchment has come aboard.
Thats because the poor quys don’t have anyone to pave their driveways for them anymore..
How many times can they strike before they have hit ever business in the Brac?
Based on their approach, these are obviously armatures. Can RCIPS manage the armatures?
those are really hard to handle, amateurs on the other hand… those are the easy ones. lol
Sound like CI Govt need to allow business owners to carry fire arms, it can be successful if the owners are taught gun safety through the police, bracka in GC.
A good burglar alarm and good police response would stop 90% of Brac burglaries.
Just leave half a bottle of rum outside the door. They would drink the rum, get drunk, and forget that they had come to rob the place. It’s just a matter of whether you business can afford half a bottle of rum per day for security.
Yes because more guns will reduce the gun problem.
