Cayman News Service(CNS): A 38-year-old man from Bodden Town has been charged in connection with a robbery at a Rum Point condo in North Side earlier this month in which an elderly visitor was punched in the face. Police said the suspect was arrested on Saturday evening, 16 January, and charged on Tuesday morning, ahead of his expected appearance in court, with robbery and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The robbery took place in the heart of the tourist area in the district at around 6pm on 11 January. The three victims — the 77-year-old man and his 76-year-old wife, who own the condo, and their 61-year-old helper — were sitting on their porch on the beach front of the holiday home.

The robber, who was armed with a knife, made off with cash, jewellery, phones and an iPad in a crime that caused considerable concern in the community and for the Department of Tourism.
