RCIPS Joint Marine Unit vessel, the Niven D

(CNS): Four men have been charged with drug smuggling following another police interception off the north coast of Grand Cayman this weekend. Two local men from West Bay and two men from Jamaica were arrested Friday evening when the Joint Marine Unit responded to sighting of a suspicious vessel, spotted by the crew on board the RCIPS helicopter, which was flying over East End waters. The Niven D, one of the JMU’s boats, went after the suspicious vessel with the help of the Air Support Unit and tracked it down about half a mile offshore from North Side.

When the boat was searched, an undisclosed quantity of ganja was found and two men, aged 48 and 52, from West Bay and two men, aged 30 and 38, from Jamaica were all arrested for importing ganja. The 52-year-old man from West Bay was also arrested on suspicion of human smuggling.

The men were all charged with those offences on Saturday and appeared in Summary Court Monday where all four were remanded in custody until their next appearance.

No Christmas trees. I bet it was some old Reggie Bush anyway. I don’t understand why the weed coming from Jam is such low quality, all seeds and sticks.

The interception of a 2nd smuggling boat & occupants within just a few short weeks is good news & should send a message to those engaged in such activities , that Cayman is getting tougher to run their illegal trade through. Great work by the police & joint units involved .

Any Caymanian with a British Passport has a lot more choices at their disposal than running drugs. Ever heard of a place called Europe? Or perhaps, the UK? And last time I checked, its a persons choice to sell drugs, no one else’s.

Translate in English please. I failed patois in grammar school. Thank you kindly and have a pleasant day.

Translation: “A lot of you all are talking off your big dirty mouths and it’s your boyfriends, brothers and family that are doing the same foolishness. It’s merely a matter of time when your own family gets busted, times are hard and people have to survive; rather than going broke. Banks are thieves and they’ll kill people who are just trying to survive but God will help them get through. God is coming soon, there are no jobs for the youth so leave them alone with their choices”

While I agree with you somewhat, I still think your full of ____. everyone has choices but obviously because times are tough doesn’t mean you should make the wrong ones. Gas stations still need tending to, supermarkets still need their shelves to be stacked. Our problem is that we have a bunch of lazy, self entitled pricks with links overseas who are willing to trade some integrity for a quick dollar.

12.52 how dare you accuse us of ever having had any integrity!! Is there no end to your insults?

The individual giving these criminals protection must have left the island….all of a sudden they are getting caught. Seems strange doesn’t it?
