Blood Moon is rare treat for nighttime skywatchers

(CNS): On Sunday night residents and visitors to the Cayman Islands were able to see a rare and beautiful total lunar eclipse of a supermoon, also called a Blood Moon, as the Sun, Earth, and the Moon lined up in space. The eclipse lasted about an hour and 12 minutes and was visible from North and South America, Europe, Africa, and parts of West Asia and the eastern Pacific, according to NASA. A few clouds in the sky frustrated some nighttime skywatchers but those who persisted enjoyed a rare treat.

    In rural UK such a moon would be referred to as a “poacher’s moon” as it actually facilitates theft!

    last night I was woken up by my baby – it was light outside so I assumed it was 6am and started my errands for the morning. When I looked at the clock after my shower it was 1am!
    The moon was amazingly bright and it was such a wonder to see.

    Sorry for dragging the conversation to a lower level but I would love to see if there was a change in the crime stats because of the light? I can’t imagine that anything too clandestine took place last night.

      We should move West Bay closer to the moon. Crime drops, West Bay is further away, everyone wins.
