Cayman could be stop on royal Caribbean tour
(CNS): The UK media is reporting that Prince William, Duchess Catherine (Kate Middleton) and their two children, Prince George (2) and Princess Charlotte (three months) are preparing for their first royal tour as a family of four and the Cayman Islands may be on the agenda. According to The Daily Mail, the young royals are planning their first official tour to the region sometime in February or March of next year.
The report comes from the paper’s royal watcher and gossip columnist, Charlotte Griffiths, who indicated that Cayman, the Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands are high on the itinerary. However, she quoted royal insiders as stating, “Nothing is certain yet but these things must be planned miles in advanced. It certainly won’t be a holiday.”
The last royal to visit Cayman was Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, who visited all three islands in February 2009 on his fourth trip here. In May 2003, he participated in Cayman’s Quincentennial celebrations. In November 2004, the Earl visited to inspect the recovery process in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, and also toured the islands on a three-visit in February 2007.
Queen Elizabeth II visited in February 1983, when she opened the Queens Highway, and again in February 1994. During her second visit, she knighted former Financial Secretary Vassel Johnson and officially opened the Ed Bush Sports Complex in West Bay and Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park off Frank Sound Road.

Dear educated Caymanian,
Genesis tells us that “God breathed into man’s nostrils the breath of life and he became a living soul”. We are not from the fishes as you claim and evolution is a total lie.
We teach our children the Biblical virtues and this is our choice.
Relativism, political correctness and other rot will get you nowhere.
The animals were created but we are a notch above in that we have souls.
A tad unecessary 1.06, even if you were having a go at WHO.
Please do a public education campaign to enlighten those who believe that a plastic shopping bag qualifies as a proper garbage bag. Then maybe there won’t be so much garbage floating around the place when they visit.
But a plastic shopping bag is a proper garbage bag. Be off with you tree-hugger.
So what do you do with plastic shopping bags – put them in the garbage! (yes, yes, you never use them cos you use your non plastic shopping bag)
Obviously they are referring to people like you. Garbage bags are made to hold garbage dumb dumb, not shopping bags. That’s so ghetto to see them piled up and spilling over.
This would be a great chance to bring world attention to the homophobic state of local politics.
Cayman’s private schools have a good class size to teacher ratio. The public schools now have more children per class size because Mr. Bush handed out too many free statuses and the infrastructure is loaded up currently.
There is nothing wrong with the system. I maintain that the British brought us good police, good education, good government. A society with rules runs better.
Remember that Moses went to the mountain to receive the ten commandments for people then to have order. Yes, we have grace today through Christ’s shed blood on the cross but the Commandments were our school teacher. OK. Go ahead room. Make fun of these truths as fables but God is not mocked. God has given the government to rule over us and God rules and over rules in the affairs of nations.
God bless our queen and our royal family.
Thank you writers that have spoken about the clean up of the roadways and towns. Folks, trash cans are around. Think about what you will do with your disposables and have more pride for your self and your neighbor.
Well Cayman will get a clean up, anything broken will be fixed, the roads will be repaired. Money will be spent that we don’t have…oopppsss Dart will donate it, so we are good to go and as usual we can front for the future King that everything in Cayman is just dandy!!! Robbers, Gang Members, etc., behave yourselves on that day, put on your Sunday best so you can just blend in. Don’t want them to think we have crime in the Cayman Islands now do we?
I have to agree. As a young Caymanian I am well aware that the UK is better for us than the alternative, with the current set of politicians we have. The fact is, the UK is stable and civilized compared to the many independent Caribbean islands we want to emulate.
God help us all if we sever ties from the UK now. I would hate to think what our police and penal system would look like if the British left.
While I believe there is a time and place for everything, independence isn’t an option now. For those who feel that we should sever ties with the UK, I respect your opinion, but I have to disagree.
2:52? America is a Republic and not a Democracy. You should probably read up on the difference. Small countries have no business going independent. Their underpinnings are way too weak and all end up with Mugabe and Idi Amin whack job leaders. The leaders take all of their funds and never help the people nor infrastructure.
What is the real story of Haiti and other countries? Do you think that Brazil and Venezuela are good countries to live in ?
I realise that maintenance is not really Government’s thing, but perhaps the applicable Dept could devote a little time to cleaning up the weed overgrown Queen’s Monument on the Queen’s Highway. The original wood structure around it has long rotted to pieces and been removed but NRA recently splashed out on a large sign identifying it, presumably as an attraction, so it might be good to keep it in a less than deplorable state. Ditto for the Queen Victoria monument in Bodden Town.
And while we’re at it, how about taking down the quincentennial celebration posts that have been derelict for many years.
I won’t bother mentioning the relentlessly filthy roadsides from one end of the island to the other.
But since we have so little in the way of natural scenery above the water, the least we could do is keep the place clean. You know, to differentiate our island from the rest of the Caribbean.
I tried to file a complaint with the NRA about that but I wrecked my car trying to read their contact information on their new signs.
“We are not amused!”. Well, maybe just a little bit.
Having a bad hair day 12.31? Have a glass of something strong and stop taking yourself so seriously, or are you after a Knighthood too? Get in line buddy, I was still first…
Who are they and what did they do to achieve their royal status?
Their parents had heterosexual sex, that’s what.
🙂

Who are you and how did you get yours. I suppose it was either by generational immigration or marriage, or both?
They actually have more of a claim to be here than you, as the island was settled by British citizens on behalf of the King and Great Britain and it has remained that way ever since.
Unlike those whose claim to be ‘native’ but in truth are immigrants or the descendants of immigrants to a British crown territory.
As for their royal status, well that would be beyond those who don’t have and could never understand a history beyond a couple of hundred years.
Wrong. There was no formal settlement process here. England claimed Cayman from an indifferent Spain along with Jamaica and other places almost as an afterthought. The people who came here did so of their own accord and were entirely self-governing for almost 200 years. The eastern half of Grand Cayman was settled by freed slaves and they took it from only the iguanas. Besides, your argument would make every human being nothing that they claim to be other than African. I mean, at the end of the day we’re all really monkeys with fish for ancestors, right? And I haven’t even mentioned the Norman conquest yet. Know why they call it a conquest? Of course you do, there’s a good lad.
9:42? Cut the sarcasm and when you use the word grovel, you are showing your insecurity and ignorance. The British have the right to keep their monarch. Cayman Islands have more chances of stability under the Crown. Why don’t you move to the Middle East and try that on for size. They, the Royals, were born for duty and give back a lot to their community. Are you better off being under the Crown or do you want to be a basket case like Jamaica and other countries that have gone into more socialism after they abandoned the Crown for the stupidity of Independence. You have the right to make fun of their dignity and their integrity but you have to admit that we under the Crown have had good education and other things that the British have brought us.
“…the stupidity of Independence”?
Ummm…I have America on Line 1 – they wish to talk to you.
Ignorance is truly bliss.
What about the Canadians, Eh?
The loyal Canadians, we love ’em in the UK.
Aww, someone disliked this. As a Canadian, when I get my feeings hurt, I go to the hospital and have them checked out – for free!
Ah yes, American Independence. The removal of a monarch who was perceived as having unlimited power, although in reality is a constitutional figurehead. To be replaced by a republican figurehead positioned by big business, the rich and the powerful, who has unlimited power. Good move guys, that went well.
I would hardly describe cayman as having a good education system.
My guess is that you know nothing about the Cayman education system but thought you would get your oar in anyway.
The Middle East is also crammed full of outdated royal families with their disgusting privileges by birth.
Polishing my shoes, ironing razor like creases in my pants and preparing my knee cushion so I can grovel appropriately. Is the Duchesses sister coming too? Will she be in “that” dress? Wondering if I can get a Knighthood. I seriously think I deserve one.
your royal highness i beg to disagree strongly…..
