Victims blackmailed on risky adult social media sites

(CNS): The police are warning local residents to be on their guard when using adult social media sites after receiving two local reports over the past few days of blackmail from people engaging with strangers on them. Although the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service has not specified the nature of these sites, it is understood that the exchange of adult images has led to blackmail and attempts to get personal information from the users.

“The public is advised against  sharing personal details with anyone over the internet inclusive of photographs or videos,” the police stated, as they also urged anyone else who may have been a victim of blackmail or a scam attempt on such sites to report the matter to the police on 949 4222.

Wait what? People are foolish enough to send nudes to complete strangers? It’s dangerous enough to send them to someone you know. lol

Not as simple as that, but you’re close. Speaking NOT from experience. You see a pretty girl on a dating site, she contacts you and suggests a skype chat. You can’t resist so skype her, and there she is in real life, smiling and waving. Then things start getting a little heated, and wait? what? she’s stripping for me??? Holy Mother of Sweet Jesus, I’m getting me some of that. Before you know it, you’re getting yourself involved too and stroking the monkey like you’ve never stroked him before until… The video suddenly changes and it’s no longer your pretty girl stripping, it’s in fact YOU. Half naked with your monkey in your hands, but it’s fast turning from a strong raging Silver Back Gorilla to nothing more than a flaccid Pygmy monkey. Then some text appears on screen “what are you going to do about it?”. This is where (and I’m told this scam originated in the Philippines), you’re blackmailed. “Pay me $$$ or I send this video to all your friends” comes the next message.

If you don’t pay the money, within a day there’s a couple of versions of the video uploaded to YouTube tagged with your name (as they got it from the dating site), then they find you on Facebook (thanks to your name and photo), and they message your friends with a link to the video. Painful and humiliating…

      Nasty, but damn impressive scamming.
