Community urged to dress up for Cayfest
(CNS): As the Cayman National Cultural Foundation gears up for the annual national arts festival at the end of this month, officials are urging the whole community to take part in the ‘Dress for Culture’ day on 27 February. The CNCF is hoping that Caymanians as well as all the people from the 135 different nations living here will take part and don their national outfits for the day.
Officials said the goal is to promote cultural diversity and understanding as well as create a colourful and exciting visual tapestry.
The dress up is one of a number of events that make up Cayfest, which culminates in the Red Sky at Night Festival on Saturday. With a mix of visual arts, music, theatre, film, fashion design and cultural discussions, this festival has an emphasis on local arts and culture. The national costume competition will be presented on the grounds of the Harquail Cultural Centre on Saturday at the Red Sky event.
