Burglary at Tibbetts Enterprises, March 2016

(CNS) Updated with CCTV footage: Burglars who broke into a shop on Cayman Brac in the early hours of Saturday morning stole around $11 in coins. Police said the two thieves, who both had their heads, arms and hands covered, entered the premises from the rear of Tibbetts Enterprises in Cotton Tree Bay at around 3am, and damaged the CCTV system as well as stealing the cash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 318 Andrew Bowen or Inspector Wendy Parchment at the Cayman Brac Police Station at 948-0331. See CCTV footage below (burglary begins 3:32, ends 5:11).

In a separate incident on the Brac, following a search at a home in Watering Place early on Saturday morning Uniform and Joint Marine Unit officers arrested a 47-year-old man for possession and consumption of ganja, consumption of cocaine and possession of a utensil to consume a controlled drug.

He was subsequently bailed to return to the Cayman Brac Police Station on a later date.

Ladies and Gents; these are not teens or young punks. These are grown men!

WOW. How pathetic can someone be; break in and go through someone else’s things to steal. We have some real degenerates in Cayman today boy!

Agree with the post re: problems with stays grants, particularly on the Brac. As an educator, I know that the vast number of students with Special/behavioural needs are immigrants. It is disheartening when new students arrive as the reprecussions are massive,

You mean Jamaicans….say it like it is so We can thank Mac and his supporters for ruining paradise.

      • Anonymous says:

It is not only Jamaicans. A wide range of other nationalities, including in particular Hondurans are also adding to the problem. The issue is more one of importing poverty and persons lacking education than any other. Why the hell are we continuing to do so!

        • Anonymous says:

Nasa claims they found Jamaicans on the moon but I can’t believe they have them in the Brac too.

This goes to show how bad business is… Poor store just sold $11 for the day…

    • Anonymous says:

Lol. No, that store owner just isn’t leaving money in the store and everybody in Brac know that…Not sure what they were after. Maybe they were drunk and being stupid.

  8. Anonymous says:

Oh, the things you could do with $11! Was it CI$?

  9. Sharkey says:

Cayman Islands Government these people needs jobs it’s really bad when you see them stealing $ 11 dollars in coins.
CNS please tell me that this is a error , he was bailey to return to the police station at later date .
I thought that after you are bailed , your next stop was the court house .

      Two different people…sheesh

Need jobs? Punks need a good a– whooping.

      • Seldom says:

Yes, 2:29. These punks do indeed need a good beat down from a man! It is always the same cycle; no father figure at home. Mother resentful of previous relationships; single raising kids on her own and she seems to hate her kids.

        Same shit; different day.

My point is; these people are the result of that!

    • SSM345 says:

Unfortunately in Cayman when bailed for a crime, you can return to the Police Station for upwards of a year to be re-bailed each time until they charge you and set a court date. Then of course you go to court and the same thing happens there till eventually 3yrs down the line when you finally get your day in court.
If they catch this $11 thief, it will probably cost the country $50,000+ to get them through the courts.

Crime is not a problem in the Cayman’s says the government

They trying to get some extra cash for Bracanaaaaaaal!

    • Lem says:

They don’t’ want to work; they want us to work and they steal what we have worked for….entitlement mentality. The gloves they are wearing were probably purchased on island somewhere; really not hard to find out who these 2 are on the Brac. C’mon po-po’s, do some real investigatory work! They also didn’t notice the camera until 4-5 minutes after being there; so they don’t know the place that well because if they did the camera would have been the first thing they went for….

Welcome to the new Cayman Islands, a thief’s paradise.

      Thanks Mac!

      • Damper says:

Sorry these are Caymanian’s and i’m glad you all used this photo now the public can see how bad the police station needs painting, and by the way one just got out of prison a few months ago!

        • SSM345 says:

So why don’t you and a couple of friends do some community service and put a coat of paint on the station instead of complaining about it?

          • Dutch Bwoy says:

RCIPS has a $35,000,000 annual budget. Surely they can factor in building upkeep. Or is that just too much for management?

            • SSM345 says:

How much of that budget do you think the Brac receives judging from the appearance of their station?

I suppose all the litter that washes up on our beaches is too much for you to help clean up too because it came from somewhere else?

              • Washed Up says:

So why do we bother with an entire Department of Environmental Health, complete with its own beach and parks cleaning unit?

The point is that something is messed up badly when we have expensive govt agencies with specific functions and yet are apparently reliant on volunteers at the same time.

Govt is providing jobs but no one is doing any work.

          • Anonymous says:

useless people saying its not my job so quick to point out fault and not do a dam thing about it
By the way the video of the crime is on youtube just local jokers shouldn’t be too hard to figure out

CNS: Can you send us the link?

          • Anonymous says:

I’m sure you and your friends get together to paint government buildings in Grand Cayman.

        • Anonymous says:

Heard there was a $5000 reward. You might want to cash in if you know who the thieves are. Wish I knew. It would help pay off my bills.

        • Anonymous says:

That they are Caymanians is actually not relevant. A significant number of the cabinet status grants have contributed directly to an overwhelming and near collapse of our social services and education systems. It resulted in an incredible mass importation of poverty, a disenfranchisement of large numbers of hard working Caymanians, displacements in employment, a diminishment of opportunity and negative cultural influences including a growing acceptance of single parent households. It has caused incredible problems for our country.

      • Anonymous says:

If you have info that these thieves are not Caymanians, then share it with the Police. Otherwise, your xenophobic accusation really doesn’t help anything.

        • Anonymous says:

Already told them and one was arrested this morning feel big?

          • Anonymous says:

So I guess there is “evidence” to support the arrest and have them charged if not the government might be looking to pay these petty thieves some MULA for unlawful arrest! Come on do the right thing and step up to the plate and give the evidence or if you are along with a group and cannot be singled out there is new legisation that affords this to be done.

If we allow this to pass then the theives will continue to leave a wake of damage committing more crime.
