Couple stabbed in George Town brawl
(CNS): A man and a woman were both treated in hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning following what police described as an altercation as they left a bar on Mary Street in downtown George Town. At around 4am the couple became involved in a brawl with a group of men in which they both received knife wounds. They were taken to the hospital in private vehicles, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. Mary Street was closed until about 9:45 Saturday morning as detectives conducted investigations.
Police are now looking for witnesses to the incident and anyone with any information is asked to call George Town CID on 949-4222. Anonymous tips can be sent directly to police via the website or through Crime Stoppers at 800-8477.
No wonder we don’t go out anymore, my wife is caymanian and I sits we back heading home by 9 pm before all the idiots turn up
You can go out whenever you want, just avoid certain places
Hope they make a speedy recovery, as for the poster that wrote Cayman sucks I guess that means the rest of world is f*****
Nope, but that is what somebody who thinks they don’t suck would say.
This is why I stay home!
Shit families make shit people.
You seem to be a “shit” person since you know a lot about “shit people”?
I’m a retired Police Officer from RCIPS 8.55am that’s how I know.
Ah, so this is how the “Police” talk about people! Go figure!
You live a decent clean, honest and law abiding life 4.19pm and you won’t give reason for anyone to talk about you in any derogatory way. As regards to the Police talking about such people, it’s not actually casual gossip is it. It’s part of their day to day work. That work entails upholding the law to try and keep these islands a safe place to live for YOU and your family. So don’t be a smart arse please!!
Still doesnt justify the comment but ok…animal life it is…
Former police*
You are a “shit” cop!!!
Who cares? The rcips made a big mistake hiring someone like you with that type of mindset and thank god your not an officer anymore because they don’t need anymore “SHIT” officers in the force..
Truth always hurts 5.16pm…..funny that isn’t it.
This continual crime wave isn’t doing any good for the tourism of this island let alone the people that live here. It’s getting now it’s not safe to walk the streets day or night and not even to stay indoors. This island is nothing but burglaries, robberies, stabbing and shootings. Oh, not forgetting the child abuse and Cat., A drugs either.
We’ll never eradicate crime completely but at least have some deterrent. It’s time the Judges of these Courts were given far more powers to issue more severe sentences to these scum bags! The current sentences imposed for such crimes is laughable…….this island is a criminals dream!!
Do like Sinapore, that will put a big dent in crime. Here the criminals/murderers has too much rights, no hard labour , can’t beat them, can’t put them in Jail for life, they get whatever they want, need harder punishment but that not going to happen in Cayman. I guess plenty people will disagree with this, so crime will get worse.
Let’s start with: wanting to report, and dialing the three digits, 9/11 operator wanting to field that report, and transcribing that report correctly, dispatching response, catching correct bad guy(s), witness(es) identified and agreeing to testify, and then getting DPP to agree to prosecute. A lot of our crime-fighting effort breaks down at the various stages on the road to clogged courts and conviction to a well-overcapacity prison system. Our whole crime-fighting template seems to be weighted towards eye-witness evidence (the fastest degrading, and least reliable) on a very narrow spectrum of routinely prosecuted infractions, with a special emphasis on perennially-tampered-with or non-functioning CCTV, and/or botched evidence collection.
Honorable Premier, please get this taken care of.
Don’t hold your breath… The only thing our premier is concerned with is destroying the natural habitat and building hideous structures that don’t suit the islands.
If reducing crime is on the Premier’s to-do list, it must be near the bottom of the list.
Unity are the political class brokering deals with gang hierarchies. In these semi-autonomous criminally-controlled neighbourhoods, our police seem to have instruction to warn rather than arrest.
Carrying a knife into a bar, pub or club is an offence.
This seems to reinforce the idea that only bad things happen after 2:00 a.m.; why did we ever allow the Liquor Licensing Board to extend the hours? Do people — tourists, locals, anyone — really need to be out drinking until 4:00 a.m.???
Can you honestly say that a person is “responsible” enough to drive if they’ve stayed out until 4:00??
Not saying the couple deserved the encounter. Nope, they did not.
Bad things happen after 2:00 a.m.
You sound like you are a bunch of fun!
Try walking down Mary Street or McField Lane after 2 am and see how fun you have.
Do it all the time. Do yourself a favor and stay away!
Lot’s of good things have happened to me after 2:00AM, just saying
Stay home after dark in Cayman.
Cayman Sucks.
Nah, not really. Just a couple bad eggs in the basket. Those beat police should be walking 24/7 365 in shifts. These things wouldn’t happen if they did their foot patrols in places like Mary Street after 2:00 AM, or in fact at anytime for that matter. Popo make the bad man go go!
save it…their country is far worse
