Fisherman’s pants stolen at knife point
(CNS): A Central American fisherman visiting the Cayman Islands lost his pants, phones, ID and cash to a robber early Saturday morning outside a George Town bar. In the bizarre knife-point robbery, the 37-year-old man from Honduras was threatened by the armed, masked mugger at around 12:26am along Boilers road. Police said the fisherman, who has been visiting Cayman for several years, was carrying a substantial amount of local currency as well as lempira cash and a small amount of quarters when the suspect pressed the knife to his stomach and demanded his pants.
Fearing for his life, he removed his pants and handed them, along with the more valuable loot, over to the robber. An RCIPS spokesperson said the suspect then ran off towards Walkers Road with the pants as well as the cash and personal items belonging to the visitor, who was not injured during the incident.
The suspect had light complexion and was of slim build. He was wearing a light blue long jeans pants, grey sleeveless t-shirt, brown sneakers, and he had a white mask covering his face.
Officers were called to the scene and the matter is now under investigation by George Town CID. Anyone with information that could assist the investigators with their investigation is asked to contact DC Ava Parkinson at 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers on 800-8477 (TIPS).
Queen’s English, please. This is the country that came up with “drink driving”. LOL.
My bad, autocorrect, failed to check. Please tie me up, take me outside, let me utter my final apology to Her Majesty and then put me out of my misery. I deserve it.
Trousers CNS
Just confirms the need for belt and braces!
Track the stolen phones? Even if they’re dead you can still track them.
Look at CCTV footage near Walkers Road or in the area surrounding the bar?
Check everyone else’s phones to see who was in the bar area the same time the incident happened?
If they know how to do these things to charge gang members that shoot each other, I don’t understand why they need help and guidance for pettier crimes.
Why steal his pants? Could he not just then put on his trousers and go commando for a bit?
Cayman kind, a special welcome for special pants.
That’s what you call stealing your pants from off your behind !!
Next they will be stealing drawers from the clothes line as well.
Meanwhile the U.S. State Department issues a travel advisory for the Cayman Islands. Due to reports of a Travelers are advised not to wear pants, a.k.a. “Trousers”, especially those bearing any designer labels. However the wearing of plain colored Speedos is strongly advised, flamboyant printed Speedos are not recommended as this may attract other unwanted attention.
This is certainly a hit song in the making for The Barefoot Man! Some lyrics could be..” and while you’re at it give me your pants..ops I mean trousers. Now your in the wrong place, it’s long gone midnight,
Meringue town is a crazy place. So, just hand over your Lott, and while you’re at it, just give me your pants..ops I mean trousers.
Wait… we’re importing fishermen now? I thought there were enough Caymanian fishermen to do the job?
Sshhhhh 3.01, don’t wake up Caymans finest…
Please read carefully before opening your mouth, the man was a visitor to the Cayman Islands..You people are always looking for and Out by blaming everything on foreigners. Maybe you should asked where your son got those new pants you didn’t by for him and he didn’t have a job to by them for himself.
Trousers. His trousers were stolen. The real crime here is against the Queen’s English.
Get over yourself. You’re not superior just because you have a different vocabulary. Unless you’re a talking horse.
The OP is correct. In British territory the Queen’s English should be the preferred usage for all written communications. Anything else is grubby.
Are you one of the morons who thinks that pants are underwear? The clue is in the name: underpants, you wear them under your pants
Precisely why people can’t get jobs here. Need to speak the Queens English, but no, you know better 6.00pm…and correcting the English to your bastardized version. You can’t make this up!
“Bastardised version” if you please.
Spanish. Pantalones.
Si, no mas pantelones!
maybe it was the terminator?…. I wouldn’t mess with him….
Maybe I could help police solve this if I only knew what color pants were stolen…
Have you ever stolen anything? For instance not paying a fair day’s pay, not paying insurance or pension, not giving a fair days work for a fair days pay? Remember stealing comes in many forms and not just from the top echelon or politics. Stealing is stealing, more about the act that determine who is a thief than the amount
Welcome to the entire world. It is happening everywhere- and while it is horrible that such things are happening here Cayman Is still one of the safest places to visit. For sure someone knew he had the money on him, that was definitely not a coincidence. Whoever the robber is he has slunk to the lowest low.
slunk.. nice word, I like that
Having lived and worked in ten countries over the last 25 years, I can honestly say, no, this is the only place I have ever heard this happen.
Those must’ve been some great pants.
Business was good so he had the new range of designer fishermans pants
This IS disgusting, but not surprising.
Why make jokes about this crime….a tourist that has been visiting for several years has just been robbed of his pants and his possessions. Will he be back? Will his friends? Will anyone that he has just told about this incident? What about those that just read about this incident?
These incidents are getting so commonplace that it isn’t easy to overlook.
More police patrols. On the beach, downtown, along west bay road by the restaurants and shops. If you don’t tap into the tourist money there will be no more to roust money. Why is that so hard to understand.
Yes he will be back 8.43. Despite this incident he is still safer here than his home, bless him. But he will make sure he never carries that much cash to dodgy bars late at night
I know visiting the Cayman Islands can take the shirt from your back, but WOW!
that’s just disgusting
new lows
perhaps he should ring his phones and see if anyone answers
a several years is a long time for a visit
I don’t think they were saying he was on one several year visit – more that he had been returning to the Cayman Islands to visit for several years in a row? 🙂
And by now, I was so frightened, that I’ll tell you, but I hate to……..
I screamed and ran away and lost my hook and line and bait too!!
Thanks Dr. Seuss. Perhaps if more parents read to their children at night there wouldn’t be so many who aspire to be nothing more than wards of the state or Northward residents.
Just look for a perverted pants sniffing perp.
Welcome to Cayman, where pure thievery is the norm, from the top echelon of society and politricks, to the very children defrauding you with sponsor-sheet in George Town. SMDH
