Cocaine seized in traffic stop and found on Brac beach

(CNS): Police in both Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac seized cocaine this week when 72lbs of the narcotic was found on the beach on the South Side of the Brac and 14 packages were recovered from a couple at a traffic stop in South Sound. The Brac cocaine haul would have a street value of millions of dollars but the RCIPS did not indicate the quantity of drugs taken as a result of the search of a Nissan Sunny.
Police said the car was stopped along South Church Street early on Tuesday morning by uniformed patrol. Officers reportedly found that the couple in the car appeared to be nervous and became suspicious of their behavior. As a result, they searched the car and found 14 individually wrapped packages of drugs suspected to be cocaine.
“The driver, who is known to police, fled on foot on and is sought by officers from the George Town Police Station,” an RCIPS spokesperson said. The 20-year-old woman was taken into custody but has since been bailed.
Meanwhile, the significant drug haul in the Brac was reportedly found on Thursday 18 June by customs officers at around noon. The package suspected to be cocaine was transferred to Grand Cayman and has been secured for destruction.

I saw 70 packages of “drugs” come off a boat I watched with a whole bunch of other people as the “drugs” were unloaded from the boat. Some packages went into buckets some into boxes some just placed into trunks of unmarked autos everybody smiled

That headline had me confused. I thought that the drugs seized in Grand Cayman was later found on the beach in Cayman Brac. I had to read the article to figure out how they would know it was the same drugs. I must say kudos to the headline writer. Good way to draw someone to read the article.
The street value in the US would only be about $600k.

The news feeds should have been separated because to many people have it twisted that drugs were found on person from the Brac basically because they don’t fully read the whole news feed to that it is two different stories into one. To make things clear they should have been separated. Good job to both partied in both circumstances…
Blah,blah,blah & more BLAH BLAH about drug finds! We always find the DRUGS, but never no CASH! Starnge to say the lease, where there is drugs, there is money! And while we’re here, what are the CIG doing about CUC??????

I would also like to extend a huge thank you to the private citizen of Cayman Brac that chose to turn over the drugs to the authorities, when they found it washed up on the beach.

An awful lot of our police officers (male and female) could never pass a fitness test. This is something which needs to be looked into as they are not “pulling their weight”.
I really don’t get it – if you were caught with a pile of drugs, how can you be released on bail? Even if they just “found” it – let’s first clear up the circumstances and then let them be bailed……….It seems that everyone arrested gets bail and then is only brought back to the court a year or so later.
Sorry for picking the negative out of this article when in general it’s a positive result, but how and why was the driver able to flea on foot? Surely the police have some kind of fitness test to undergo. Also, I hope the 20 year old women wasn’t bailed using the “Proceeds of Crime” monies!!!
This is a common occurrence and not all those who fine are conscientious enough to do the right thing and frequently put their greedy and materialistic agenda in high gear with bad outcomes on the horizon. The other side of this is the serious lack of Marine Patrols which are virtually non existent to watch our borders, make it both extremely easy for such people to both find and realize such drug fines. Yet we are constantly misled to believe otherwise by those in charge who are more concerned about publicity and image. Kudos to Cayman Brac Customs and Uniform Police! Excellent Job
It happened to me. Over thirty years ago. A bale of weed on the beach in the Bahamas. I bought a “Save the Bales” T shirt as a reminder, as I don’t really remember much else about the rest of the holiday.
